Chapter36: Now who's the dirty minded one?

|||Mathew

"Take your hoodie off."

"Was that supposed to be suggestive?" She smirks, reaching down to grab the hem. I noticed her wince and helped her to pull the fabric off her body.

"Now who's the dirty minded one?"

She just scoffs a laugh, tossing the sweater onto the bed behind her and reaching her arm out to me. The cut looked even worse than I was expecting – a large slit right below her shoulder, blood covering the area below it and dripping down the length of her arm.

"How the fuck is this not hurting you?"

She shrugs but instantly winced. I was about to say something when she rolled her eyes at the pain, moving her arm in a gesture, "Can you just heal me already? I want to go eat."

I had seen girls literally cry over a broken nail before and here Ashley was, acting like the big gash in her arm was a damn splinter. I shook my head at her, taking hold of her hand and reaching up to clean it, "Why did you think it was a smart idea to jump into that fight?"

"I didn't," she admits, wincing as the cotton touched her wound. "I saw Jeremy and his friends in trouble. I wasn't gonna sit by and do nothing."

"But what the fuck were you expecting to do?!" I snapped before letting out a breath, "You can't fight and yet you figured you would somehow win that?"

Then the little shit smirks at me, "Technically speaking, they were the ones that went bolting for the hills with their tails tucked between their legs. Don't know about you but that seems like a win to me."

"They only ran because Felix and I showed up. Otherwise, who knows how far Nathaniel would have gone."

"You act like I'm not scary. I was the one with the blade," she states with a grin, fiddling with the knife in her hands.

I couldn't help but shake my head at her, a smile quickly tugging at the corners of my mouth.

Someone came running through the door to the nurse's office but I completely ignored it, focusing on what I was doing. "What the fuck happened? You got into a fight?" I rolled my eyes at her brother's voice – not that it was shocking he was here.

"Ya, I won," she says smugly and I felt the start of a growl escape me.

I hear his footsteps as he wanders closer, hovering over me and causing my jaw to grit. There was a long silence and I noticed him and Ashley giving each other these different looks in some sibling telepathy. Then she reaches out her good hand, giving him the knife. He examines it for a minute before shaking his head, "You can't go a damn day without causing trouble, can you?"

I watched her roll her eyes in annoyance before snagging back the knife.

More footsteps come into the room and then I hear Mrs. Nadua's voice, "Oh my. What happened?" She comes racing over to us, setting a bin of stuff down as she peers over to see the wound.

"Just a little accident," Ashley responds, a big ass grin on her face and I narrowed my eyes on her – she should fess up and get them expelled.

"We're gonna need to stitch this. I'm sorry for taking so long," she says and I slowly moved back, allowing her to take control. She grabs some things and Ashley leans back on her good arm. I realized that she had stuffed the blade somewhere to keep it from Mrs. Nadua's sight. The nurse came back, a needle and thread in her hands as she prepared to stitch it up.

Ashley just sat there, watching without any reaction as the nurse began to stitch up the cut. "How did this happen?" Mrs Nadua asks her, flashing her eyes between her motions and Ashley's face.
