Last night was quite an eventful prom night, they might say, as Dib and Tak had to contend with Gretchen, who, unfortunately, attempted to ruin the evening by interfering with Dib's relationship with Tak. In doing so, however, she ultimately failed, only making their bond stronger. Gretchen's attempts to tear them apart included telling them they shouldn't be together, but Tak fought back and won, proving her commitment. Though Dib and Tak plan to keep a close eye on Gretchen—who may try to plot against them again in the future—for now, they're content with having overcome her meddling.
One casualty of the night was Dib's glasses, which Gretchen broke during her attack. He hadn't expected that level of hostility from her; either she had a few screws loose, or she was simply out of her mind. Still, they managed to salvage the night, enjoying what was left of prom together. When it was time to part, they walked each other home, exchanged goodbyes and "I love you's," and ended the night on a sweet note.
The next morning, though, proved challenging. It was a school day, but Dib wasn't quite ready to wake up. His sister, Gaz, took matters into her own hands, jumping on his bed and pelting him with pillows. When that didn't work, she resorted to dumping a bucket of water on his face. Startled awake, Dib jolted upright, confused at first, then realized it was a school day. Panicking, he thanked Gaz—who was standing right in front of him—for waking him up before he dashed to the bathroom to clean himself up. Gaz just shook her head in exasperation and went back downstairs to resume her gaming.
After a quick shower, Dib grabbed his toothbrush and muttered to himself, "I can't believe I overslept. Miss Bitters is going to have my head for being late!" He finished brushing his teeth, quickly combed his hair, and changed into his usual attire. Without time for breakfast, he grabbed his backpack and bolted out the door, leaving his sister behind. "Typical Dib, late as usual," Gaz muttered to herself.
Meanwhile, over at Tak's place, her robotic assistant, Mimi, was trying to wake her up. "Mistress, you have to wake up! You need to continue studying the humans on this planet. There's no time to rest!" Mimi's insistence jolted Tak awake. "What's going on, Mimi?" she asked groggily. "You're a few minutes late for school," Mimi informed her. With wide eyes, Tak quickly activated her disguise and dashed out of her base. "I can't believe I let this happen—I can't be late!" she muttered to herself.
Upon arriving at school, she ran into Dib. "Hey, Tak! Funny how we're both late for the same class!" he chuckled, though he was clearly worried about getting detention. "Very amusing," Tak replied dryly, "but we'd better hurry."
Together, they rushed up the stairs, through the double doors, and into the school hallway. Dib stopped at his locker to stash his things, with Tak waiting beside him, and then they both hurried to class. When they reached the classroom door, they burst in—right in the middle of a lesson. Miss Bitters' eye twitched in irritation as she looked at her tardy students.
"Dib and Tak," she hissed, "I would have expected you two to be late after your little incident at prom. But I'll let it slide, as I don't want to deal with your excuses. Now, take your seats!"
