Tak began setting up the base in an empty space enclosed by two buildings. She grabbed her tablet, started drawing the house, and pressed a button on it. The tablet transformed into a device that drilled into the ground. She turned her gaze toward MIMI and said quietly, "Back away, that's an order."

The two moved to a safe distance as the house began to assemble itself. Unfortunately, the construction made a lot of noise, causing the locals to turn on their apartment lights and look outside. Before they could witness anything, Tak quickly activated her disguise. When the onlookers opened their doors, they saw a girl with indigo-blue hair, a purple dress, and buckle boots standing with a cat. They shrugged it off and went back to sleep.

Tak and MIMI admired the new house. It was a small, purple building with black color-block accents. She walked around the yard, which was fenced in black. The yard was decorated with some flowers, a patio with a fire pit, and couches for lounging. She had also installed defenses, but they were underground and would pop up if needed. Tak took a deep breath and said, "Come along, MIMI. We've got work to do." They marched up to the house, entering it and closing the door behind them.

The living room was simple, with a big plasma HDTV, a long couch, two chairs, a coffee table, and throw pillows. As she looked around her new home, she noticed the kitchen was very small, with just a stove, sink, and dishwasher. On the floor of the kitchen was a trap door that led to her lab. Her ship was stored in the attic. She first checked out the lab, which had a science area, a weaponry area, and a computer station. Wanting to learn more about the planet, she sat at her computer and started typing, "Where to go to learn more?" The search results suggested Skool. "Might as well enroll there so I can blend in more with human society," she said as she began typing.

The next day, Dib was all packed up and ready to leave for Skool. As he waited for his sister Gaz, he greeted her, "Good morning, Gaz." She looked back at him, scoffing while playing her Game Slave. The bus arrived, and they both got on at the same time. Dib took a seat next to another kid, but as soon as he sat down, everyone moved away to the other side of the bus, avoiding him completely. He sighed sadly; he was used to this by now. It had been hard at first, but after it kept happening, he had grown numb to it. He didn't care that he had no friends. No matter how hard he tried, everyone told him to get lost or called him crazy. Those remarks hurt him deeply. "Someday I'll prove to all those mindless idiots that I'm not crazy. I'll make them look like the real idiots and not me because I'll get them to see the truth," he thought to himself.

When they finally reached Skool, everyone got off the bus. Dib was the last to exit, walking solemnly inside to his locker. He entered his combination, left some things in his locker, and took only his books to class. He was the last to find a seat, as everyone else was already sitting. Their teacher, Miss Bitters, turned to face the class with something important to say.

"Class, I'd like to introduce a new student who will be joining us. Her name is Tak." The door swung open dramatically, revealing a girl with dark blue indigo hair, a purple and navy blue striped dress, black leather leggings, and buckle boots. What caught Dib's eye, though, was that she only had three fingers. Something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He tried to ignore it.

"Hi, my name is Tak. I'm new here," she said. Everyone responded in a monotone, "Hello, Tak." When she approached Miss Bitters's desk, the teacher said, "Tak, if you have something to say, say it now, because after this moment, I don't want to hear another sound from you." Then she slithered away back to her desk.

Tak asked, "One question, Miss Bitters. Where am I going to sit?"

Miss Bitters sighed and said, "Your new desk will be right next to Dib Membrane, but I must warn you, he is very weird." All the classmates chimed in, "Yeah, don't be friends with him. You wouldn't like him," one girl in the front row said. "All he ever talks about is Bigfoot and aliens in his garage." As they continued to mock the poor boy, Tak raised her hand, and everyone fell silent.

"Why do you think he's weird? And why shouldn't I be friends with him?" she asked.

One of the girls, Jessica, replied, "He's weird for many reasons. He makes up stupid, false claims about aliens being real." Another girl, Zita, added, "You shouldn't be friends with him because he just doesn't belong here."

Tak heard all their responses. She looked back at Dib, who was on the verge of tears but was holding his emotions in. Something inside her made her feel bad for this human. She didn't know why she was feeling this way, especially since he was her enemy and she was on his planet. But she couldn't shake the feeling.

"I don't see anything wrong with him. He doesn't seem to be ranting about anything at the moment, so I'm defending him. I don't care what you say about him; you won't make me think otherwise," she said firmly. The classmates were shocked. They hadn't expected that response.

She approached Dib's desk and said, "Hey, Dib." He lifted his head to look at the new girl, and for some reason, he started developing feelings for her. He didn't know why, as he had only just met her, but his cheeks turned red. "Hey, Tak," he greeted her.

"I don't think you're crazy at all, and I don't think you're weird, not one bit. I think you're..." she blushed and quickly composed herself, "a nice boy," she said with a smile before taking her seat behind him.
