The next day, it was the weekend, and the paranormal investigator had nothing else to do. He had covered some conspiracy theories during his journey of uncovering the mysteries that people were talking about on the TV show Mysterious Mysteries. He sat in his room, contemplating what to do. It was a beautiful Saturday morning with clear skies, not a single cloud in sight. He looked at his iPhone to check the time—it was 11:30 AM.
"Maybe I'll go over to Tak's place. Maybe she's got nothing to do today?" he thought as he hopped off the bed, exited his room, and went straight downstairs, heading out the door. But as soon as he was about to put his hand on the doorknob, his father's voice stopped him.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dib turned to face his father, who was sitting on the couch, cross-legged, holding a puppet of himself in his left hand. But before Dib could reply, his father answered for him.
"To Tak's place?"
Dib gave him a blank look and replied, "Yes?"
Professor Membrane sighed, getting up from his chair and walking toward his son.
"I knew I should've had this talk with you a while ago, son. You know how a boy and a girl like each other?"
Dib gave his father an "oh my God, I know what you're gonna say" kind of look.
"Dad, I'm not even there with her yet. We're just friends," he said, blushing.
His father chuckled and patted him on the shoulder. "All right, son, I understand. But just remember, no means no," he said, laughing.
"DAD! What the heck?!" Dib exclaimed.
His father laughed even more at his son's reaction. "Anyway, son, I'll let you go. Sorry for embarrassing you. Have fun!"
Dib sighed heavily, running out the door, his face bright red with embarrassment. "My dad is really weird when it comes to these things, like I don't know any better, please," he muttered, complaining.
After a few minutes of walking, Dib finally made it to Tak's house. He headed toward her doorstep and knocked three times. Inside her house, the computer alerted her that her friend was nearby. She quickly put on her disguise and opened the door.
"Hey, Dib, what brings you out here?" she asked happily, leaning her body against the door.
"I was just wondering if you were doing anything today. I've got nothing else to do. Would you want to hang out with me?" he asked, trying to maintain his composure. In his mind, he was screaming, Do not let your hormones get the best of you, Dib Membrane. Control yourself. Control yourself.
Tak replied, "I would love to hang out with you. What would you like to do?"
Dib thought for a moment. "I was thinking we could hang out at your house for a little while until we decide what to do later?"
Tak nodded and moved away from the door, letting him inside, then shut the door behind him. Dib took in the living room space—it was cozy, with a big TV, a small couch, and a coffee table.
"Your house isn't so bad. Want to watch some TV?" Dib asked as he headed to the couch to take a seat.
Tak followed behind him, sitting a little closer to him than he expected. She picked up the remote and turned on the TV. They started flipping through channels to find something to watch. As they did so, Tak's SIR unit, disguised as a cat, hopped onto the couch with them.
"Aww, Mimi, how are you, girl?" Tak said, petting her gently.
Dib, intrigued by the cat, asked, "Cool cat. What's her name?"
"Her name is Mimi. She's very protective," Tak said while continuing to pet her.
"That's nice," Dib replied.
As they settled into watching the movie, Dib didn't realize that his hand was too close to her body. He quickly pulled it back, hoping she didn't notice. To his relief, she didn't.
The movie was three hours long, and Dib started to get drowsy. Unknowingly, he passed out. Tak sent Mimi away, telling her to return to the lab. Mimi saluted and left the room. Now alone, Tak's thoughts began to wander.
"He's so handsome," she thought. "I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be friends with him, but I'd certainly want to be more than just friends."
She moved closer to him and gently shifted his body so that his head rested on her lap. Taking a big risk, she turned off her disguise but didn't think much of it. She moved her right claw to gently stroke his messy hair and leaned down, letting her antenna lightly brush his hair. She gave him a small kiss on the forehead.
"I can't stand how handsome he is as a human. I wonder if he has a crush on me? Does he even think about me while he's sleeping?" she whispered quietly.
Her answer came when Dib mumbled in his sleep, "I love you so much, Tak."
That's when it dawned on her—he was in love with her. Her cheeks flushed blue, and she smiled joyfully. Her human companion had a crush on her, and she felt the same.
"Maybe he'll admit his feelings when he's ready because I certainly will," she said lovingly.
Meanwhile, back on the Massive, Zim was stuck in his cell after the Tallest gave Tak a mission. He growled in frustration, thrashing around, trying to break free from his imprisonment.
"ZIM WILL NOT BE HELD PRISONER FOREVER! I WILL GET OUT, AND EVERYONE WILL FACE THE WRATH OF ZIMMM!" he shouted.
