=PJ's POV=

"Lahote!" Coach yelled. "Get your head in the game son, how do you expect to beat FHN this weekend if your head's in the clouds."

"My bad coach."

Seven years ago the reservation schools shut down when the La Push and Makah reservations integrated into Forks, ultimately expanding it. The schools became over crowded causing the town to put up more schools, in the end while the elementary and middle schools got decent names the 2 high schools were pretty generic.

Forks High North and Forks High South.

I shook my head and then paid more attention to the plays. But I noticed that lately all I could think about was my future.

Then again that's all I keep gettting asked about.

You see, The end of the semester was nearing and I was beginning to feel the looming stress of what I want to do once I graduate.

It's my senior year and while I should be enjoying it...I'm not...far from it actually as no one will leave me the hell alone about my future...and worse, everyone has an opinion on it one way or another.

Being the son of the perfect Lacey Ateara, everyone expected me to go to College out of state or something. And given my grade point average and love for football I have actually given it a lot of thought as it's a very real possibility.

While being the son of Paul Lahote... well, most people are surprised I haven't ruined some good girls future (that's what the good christen folks in Town think happened to my mother) by knocking her up.

If I had it my way I could at least have a year to just think about all my options.

I mean really, I've been in school since I was 4 years old. From Pre-K all the way to 12th grade with only a couple months off for summer vacations...it's draining, parents can hardly blame their kids for not wanting to go into university right away.

When practice was over I went to my locker and put away my helmet, I was more than ready to go home.

I was glad that when I got home no one was there yet.

I went into the fridge and grabbed a piece of pizza leftover from last night, I didn't even bother heating it up. As I made my way up to my bedroom my cell vibrated. I checked it only to disregard the message, it was from Jessa, I swear that girl just doesn't know how to take a hint.

Jessa Cameron is a Makah girl who goes to FHN, she's also my Ex who I broke up with back in my sophomore year. My parents never liked her but they never gave me a reason why.

But ignore her as I might, she still reaches out ever so often.

I finished my pizza and then hopped in the shower.

The hot water helped me calm down my thoughts allowing me to think things through. But even a shower couldn't help me decide what I would do in a few months time.

When dinner rolled around I got the usual conversation from my parents.

"How was school?"

"How was practice?"

"Have you put anymore thought into extending your education?"

"Do you have a date for prom?"

"Did you see the stack of school applications I left in your desk?"

"You ready for the game this weekend?"

I've always envied by outsiders on how being an only child must be so great, you get everything including your parents undivided attention...well let me tell you, it's not all it's chalked up to be in fact, most days I feel like I like under a fucking microscope...and I know my cousins feel the same, especially Sara.

When the awkward dinner was over I went back into my room. I threw on my headphones and let my music blast into my ears. I picked up my phone and saw I had a text message, I sighed as I opened it only to find the unopened message from Jessa still.

I seriously thought about texting her back, but I knew if I did she would never stop bugging me so instead I pulled out my laptop.

I went to a few university websites but then grew bored. I switched out my headphones for an earpiece and turned on my X-Box. My cousin was online so I decided to join his party.

"Your mother and I are going out for a minute, try not to burn the place down son." My father said, I nodded and he left.

A couple of hours later I yawned and turned the game off, it was time to call it a night.

. . . . .

"Did you hear?" My cousin Brandon asked as I walked up the steps of the school.

Just like every morning, Brandon along with the rest of our group (mostly football players) were standing around on the stairs waiting for the first bell.

"What's up?" I asked confused.

This time it was Chase who spoke "people around town have spotted moving trucks parked at the old haunted mansion just outside of town."

I chuckled at the stupid town folklore "that place isn't haunted, it's just a large old house... I wonder who's moving in, especially so late in the school year."

"I heard my mom saying that place was really expensive." My cousin Sara said.

Sara is the exception to the guy rule, but she's a little tomboyish so she counts as one of the guys. In all actuality we were all cousins or at least that's what our parents called us since we're all of Quileute decent and all of our parents were either blood related or close friends.

"Did I miss anything?" Sean asked, as he made his way up the stairs, his idiotic grin permanently pasted on his face. Out of everyone here, Sean is my best friend.

To be honest, he's a year younger than me but I feel like between he and Sara we were the closest.

There's also Brandon and Chase, but they were each others best friends, and like Sean, they were also a younger than me.

In truth even though she's the smallest, Sara is older than all of us, then it's me a few months after her then Sean who's a year younger and finally Chase and Brandon who were born literally one day apart.

We filled Sean in on the latest town gossip then the bell rang. We all went our separate ways and Sara and I took our seats in the back of the class.

The classroom was filling up and I could hear as just about everyone was whispering excitedly. I wondered what was going on, but didn't have to wait long to find out.

Just as the teacher was about to close the classroom door a guy walked briskly in.

This guy was new, I had never seen him before, I guess for once the rumors were true, a family had moved into the old house outside of town.
