...

Rona was a twenty-six year old Accountant in one of the biggest law firms in America.

She was reserved but knew how to set healthy boundaries. She didn't have many friends and most of her co-workers tended to avoid her. It was mostly due to the fact they didn't know how to approach her more than anything else.

Rona brushed stray strands of her auburn hair that had escaped behind her ear as she stood from her desk and proceeded to clock out for the day.

In record time, she passed the receptionist on the ground floor before stepping out on to the sidewalk. She closed her eyes and inhaled the chilly albeit noise polluted air. Just short of her soft, green eyes opening, a rider on a bicycle missed her just by a centimeter, almost crashing into her. Just barely missing her, the cyclist had swerved to the side hitting a traffic light causing him to fall.

Rona's eyes widened as she ran up the cyclist who had thankfully had their head covered in a protective helmet. Upon closer look, she noticed they were male and had blood trailing down from underneath the helmet. This caused a gasp to escape from her lips as she took a small step backwards.

The man groaned in pain as he slowly removed his cracked helmet. Rona's eyes met with startling green eyes that seemed to enrapture her soul in that moment. His hair was dirty brown and they looked tousled and his entire outfit was covered in dirt. He looked to be in his late 20's.

"I-I'm so sorry, are you okay? I'll get you to the hospital."
The man glared at her and she wasn't really surprised. She could have been gravely injured if he hadn't swerved at the last moment. She wasn't nothing short of grateful.

She quickly took out her phone and called the ambulance and then tucked it back into her brown coat pocket. "I've already called the ambulance, Mr. You'll be fine, I promise." Her voice was soft but reassuring. She'd just clocked out of work and the idea of being the cause of someone else's pain didn't sit well with her.

*Thirty-minutes later*
Rona sat beside the man as he laid on the hospital bed with a bandage wrapped around his head. Thankfully, the doctor had said it was a minor injury, he hadn't suffered any major or permanent injuries thanks to his helmet. Rona had breathed a sigh of relief right then.

She checked her wristwatch and noticed it was already past five in the evening. She was tired to the bone and just wanted to go home to get a shower and a good night rest. Thankfully, the next day was the weekend. She was sleeping in for sure.

Rona was brought out of her thoughts by an awkward cough right beside her. The man was staring blatantly at her and he had an expression she couldn't quite decipher on his face.

"You could have killed me, you know?" That was the first time he'd spoken to her and she couldn't help but think his voice was nice; it was deep yet alluring.

Rona couldn't hold his piercing gaze and rather settled it on the humidifier by the bedside.
"That is why I'm paying for your hospital bills. I'm sorry you got hurt."

His lips curved into a small smile.

"I didn't ask you to, though?"
Rona's eyes widened softly before finding his again.
He sounded a bit cheeky and it kinda rubbed her off the wrong way, or maybe she was just overreacting.

"It's the least I could do, you're in here because of me," she finally replied.
"True," he replied back, nonchalantly.
Rona resisted the urge to bite her lip at the bluntness of this goat of a man.

"Have we met before, though?" He stated all of a sudden. His green eyes held hers captive in that moment and it was only then she acknowledged how attractive he really was. He was tall and fairly built, his boyish grin gave him a calm and easy going appearance.
