Part Two Chapter Twenty-One

Start from the beginning

Dedede kept running as he looked down at Kirby. "Hm, that was quick! But you can't keep up for long!" He then realized something. "Wait, where's GingerBrave?"

"Right behind you!" GingerBrave answered, running past both Dedede and Kirby.

Dedede's jaw dropped seeing GingerBrave manage to not only run past him, but also pick up four food items along the way and start eating them- two of which were Bear Jellies.

"Ooh!" Kirby said as he ran past Dedede to try and catch up with GingerBrave.

"Oh no you don't!" Dedede cried out as he picked up the pace and ran after his opponents.

The crowd continued to cheer and encourage the racers as they raced throughout the kingdom until they reached the kingdom's exit, where the rest of the course went on. Once the three had ran out of the kingdom, the crowd went silent.

"So um, do we just go to the entrance now and wait for them, or?" asked Sparkling Cookie.

"Not to worry, the Sugar Gnomes also placed live cameras around the course as well." Wizard Cookie told everyone as two Sugar Gnomes set down a portable TV in front of them all so they could watch the footage from the live cameras as the race went on.

Sparkling Cookie hummed. "Neat."

Kirby, GingerBrave, and Dedede continued to run as fast as they could, running throughout the forest outside of the kingdom, the animals that inhabited said forest looking very confused as the racers passed by.

In terms of who currently had the lead, Kirby and GingerBrave were ahead, each trying to pass each other, though Dedede was doing a good job at grabbing food, putting him in a good position, even if he was starting to have some trouble keeping up with the two.

As GingerBrave and Kirby were neck and neck, GingerBrave noticed just up ahead was the first little obstacle the Sugar Gnomes had built to make the race more interesting. It was the type of obstacle one could either jump over or slide beneath, the sliding seemed to be safer, and had lots of food, though if one were to try and jump over it, they could try and grab two giant Bear Jellies that were positioned up top. The giant Bear Jellies were worth a lot of points.

Given GingerBrave's courage, he knew which option to choose.

"Watch this Kirby!" he exclaimed, darting ahead past the pink puff and jumping at the right time to avoid colliding into the obstacle and managing to grab one of the giant Bear Jellies.

Kirby had slid under the obstacle, and was greeted by GingerBrave landing ahead of him as soon as he reached the other side. GingerBrave gave him a wink as he started eating the giant Bear Jelly and kept running.

"Woah, cool!" Kirby exclaimed as he ran after the Cookie.

King Dedede had seen all this happen as he tried to catch up, and felt confident.

"Hey I can do that too!" he hollered, taking a mighty leap over the obstacle and grabbing the other giant Bear Jelly. The jump to him was quite glorious. The landing though, not so much, as he almost landed on his face, but managed to correct himself before landing, though he did stumble a bit, which meant he'd have to catch up more. From that point any other obstacles he saw, he'd just knock down with his hammer, which was allowed, as long as he didn't hit his opponents.

"Grr, you two can't outrun me forever!" he yelled at Kirby and GingerBrave up ahead, taking a big chomp out of the giant Bear Jelly as he chased after them.

The race continued normally for a bit, with three soon reaching the Raspberry Forest, at that point Dedede was getting a little worn out, due to the fact that none of the food items so far were any kind of beverage. So as he ran past the trees, he took out and drank one of the three sodas that Custard Cookie III gave him, this one tasting slightly sour, most likely being lemon flavored.
