"You're welcome, fellow royal!"
"We're gonna go join the audience now, Great King!" said the smallest Waddle Dee.
Giving a thumbs up of approval, Dedede watched as his Waddle Dee subjects and Custard Cookie III went over to the crowd on the left side.
"I think that covers everything!" Maestro Sugar Gnome announced "Any questions?"
"Yeah, how are you gonna keep track of who ate the most food?" Adventurer Cookie asked him.
"A valid question! Dee-do-dah. You see, throughout the course we have many fellow Sugar Gnomes- as well as a volunteer- who will be keeping an eye on our competitors, and they'll keep a tally of who grabbed the most food."
"How many Sugar Gnomes are there?" Adeleine questioned.
"Oh lots! Doppity-do!" a Sugar Gnome standing beside her answered "There are dozens of us. DONZENS."
(Okay, that is both impressive and creepy...) she thought to herself.
Beet Cookie then arrived back in the audience, and the Sugar Gnomes that went with her gave Maestro Sugar Gnome a look of approval, signifying that the food was back in place.
Nodding, Maestro Sugar Gnome addressed the audience one more time. "Alrighty-roo! Looks like it's finally time to get started!"
The audience cheered and Maestro Sugar Gnome turned to Kirby, GingerBrave, and Dedede. "Ready to go?"
"For sure!"
"Ya bet I am!"
"Poyo!"
Maestro Sugar Gnome gleefully clapped his hands, then stepped aside for a Sugar Gnome with a party popper to step forward.
"On your marks..."
The audience went silent as Kirby, GingerBrave, and Dedede took their positions.
"Get set..."
The racing trio gave each other confident, competitive looks, Kirby especially looked very confident.
"...GO!" the Sugar Gnome yelled, pulling the party popper and making it let out a loud popping sound as small bits of confetti burst out of it.
As soon as the party popper had popped, the three racers ran out, with Kirby sprinting forward, taking the lead. GingerBrave and Dedede bolting after him, GingerBrave easily outpacing Dedede.
"Go go! You got this GingerBrave!" shouted Cherry Cookie (Hehe, just watch out for any surprises I hid!)
The other Cookies in the crowd were shouting in excitement and encouragement as the racers ran past them.
"Go Kirby go!" Adeleine hollered as Kirby ran past.
"Yeah go on Kirby! Go win this race!" Magolor shouted, not just to root for his friend, but also because he REALLY needed Kirby to win this.
The three racers kept running throughout the racetrack, and soon came across the first trail of food that had been laid out within the track.
Kirby quickly ran ahead and grabbed the first food item laid out- which was a simple looking radish- stuffing it in his mouth and continuing to run and try and grab the other food items up ahead.
"Ha ha! Not so fast Kirby!"
Dedede dashed straight past Kirby, proceeding to not only gain the lead, but also managed to grab and eat three food items. Kirby didn't let this get to him, and continued to run forward and try and regain his lead, soon he was running right beside Dedede.
