Kirby Run Part one and Two

Part Two Chapter Twenty-One

His eyes glanced around for a second before he leaned closer to whisper. "However I do have a strong feeling I know the outcome of this race, but it is not something I wouldn't want to spoil!"

Princess Cookie understood. "Oooh, okay gotcha!"

Magolor glanced around the crowd a bit. "Hey, have any of you seen Prune Juice Cookie? He said he'd take Elfilin over here while I finished temporarily closing up the Shoppe."

"Uh, I think I saw him over there?" Knight Cookie pointed across the racetrack where the rest of the crowd was.

"Hm, very well. Excuse me then." Magolor said before he floated off, heading to the other side of the track.

Whilst Magolor did that, the Sugar Gnomes stopped playing their trumpets, and Maestro Sugar Gnome cleared his throat.

"Greetings Cookies of the Cookie Kingdom! I, Maestro Sugar Gnome here, welcome you all to our first ever, Gourmet Race!" 

Maestro Sugar Gnome let the crowd clap for a bit before continuing. "This race is a special type of race, not too different from some of the races Cookies participate here on Earthbread, that's commonly played in the world that two of our participants are from! Speaking of whom, give it up for our three participants, GingerBrave, Kirby, and King Dedede!"

With the sound of applause cheering them on, Kirby, King Dedede, and GingerBrave stepped forward onto the starting line, waving eagerly at the crowd.

"Hai!!!" Kirby joyfully waved "Happy to be here!!"

GingerBrave waved excitedly too, as did Dedede, though he did seem a bit uneasy.

"Great King?" asked the smallest Waddle Dee, walking up to Dedede "Is something wrong? Are you nervous?"

"Huh? Oh, no. I'm fine, just a little thirsty. Been a bit since the last Gourmet Race I was in, and I don't think I saw them put any beverages within all the food they lined up, so I am a liiiitle worried I might get dehydrated."

"Ah, in that case I'll go get you some bottled drinks you can carry with you during the race!" Custard Cookie III declared before running off to get some drinks for Dedede.

"Well be quick about it!" Dedede called out as Custard Cookie III ran off "The race is about to start!"

"Hey Kirby." GingerBrave spoke up, tapping the pink puff's shoulder "Ya ready?"

Kirby gave a confident smile and nodded. "You bet I am!"

"Now before the race begins, allow me to explain the rules and how this race is going to work. Diddi-da-di." Maestro Sugar Gnome went on "Our three competitors will start right here at the starting line, right here in front of our beloved Cookie Castle."

Maestro Sugar Gnome pointed at the castle the racing trio was standing in front of and the tape they had put on the ground right in front of it for a starting line, then continued.

"Once the race kicks off, the three of them will run throughout the rest of the course we have prepared for them. Said course goes out of the kingdom, throughout the Land of Little Big Dreams, past the Bear Jelly Village, and right as they reach the bridge that leads to Dragon Hill, they'll find a flagpole that we have placed to signify a checkpoint. Once the checkpoint has been reached, the competitors must make their way back to the kingdom, and from there the goal is to make it back to the kingdom first!"

"Now as this is game is from another world, there are some additional rules in it that make it slightly different from the average races we have in our world! Mainly of course, the second main objective on top of reaching the finish line first, collecting and eating as much food as you can, for eating the most food helps contribute if you win! Doppi-doo! Say for example, our three competitors reached the finish line at the same time, whoever has had more food gets more points, thus giving them a lead! As such, throughout the course we Sugar Gnomes have placed various kinds of foods for our three racers to grab and eat! Such as the usual delicious Bear Jellies and Jellies, but also some other tasty treats like bagels and various fruits."
