Chapter 9 - Flashbacks

LEAVING NOW XX - NOAH

"Is that them leaving?" Tayte asked,

"Yes. You and Arii are going to go to yours and I'll wait here for Noah and Angelo and we'll meet you there later"

"Not going to happen"

"Tayte, you're going to go with Arii"

"No I'm not going anywhere"

"Don't fight me on this one. You did what I said when we were at the travel lodge and Cylan's men were there"

"Yeah and look what happened, you were shot. I'm not leaving you this time"

"Tough, that's what going to happen"

"They're not going to be back for a few hours, if I do leave with Arii, it won't be until I know that they're near"

"I'm not compromising with you"

"You are, otherwise I'm not leaving"

"When did you get so bossy?" I said,

"Your sister must be rubbing off on me" He smiled. "Speak of the devil"

"Oi" Arii smiled, "Stop talking about me"

"Guilty"

"I've got all the bags ready, obviously nobody unpacked, since we've only been here one night. I did add a few more things though"

"Thanks sis'"

"So what's going on then?"

"We're going to stay at Tayte's house with Jen, until we head on out. That guy on the phone wasn't a friendly one and he's after our parents and...us"

"Are we ever going to be free?" She asked,

"I hope so, I really do hope so"

"You text if anything happens okay, if you hear people outside, or a car that isn't Noah's, anything wrong, you text, no wait, you ring" Tayte said.

"Tayte you sound like a paranoid parent" Arii said,

"I just want to be sure"

"I'm being positive and I know nothing is going to happen" She said "Stop worrying or you'll start me off" she kissed him, I smiled,

"She is speaking the truth, I will be fine and nothing will happen"

I managed to get Tayte out of the door with Arii, Noah and Angelo were about an hour away. I had yet to inform them of what was happening; I thought I'd leave it until they got here, or until they pulled up. Tayte had already taken all of the bags. So I could literally just say we're going and leave, right now I was just sat with the TV on low, not watching anything, just thinking.

The next thing I knew I heard a car pull up in the drive. I must have dozed off. I checked the time; it had just gone 7.15pm. I got up and headed to the door, opening it,

"Keane what's going on?" Noah asked, I pulled him in for a hug,

"No time to explain right now, we're not staying here though. We're going to Jen's for a few days"

"Who's Jen? What's happening?" Angelo said,

"I'll fill you in on the way, Tayte and Arii took all of our things, so if you don't need to stop, can we be on our way?"

"Let's go"

Noah drove, because he knew where we were going. We pulled up at Tayte's house and I wasn't surprised to see him stood there,

"I told you everything would be fine" I said, walking past him,

"Hi Jen"

"Hello Noah"

"This is my boyfriend Angelo"

"Nice to meet you Mrs Marcillo"

"And you Angelo, you can call me Jen"

"Did Keane fill you in?" Tayte asked,

"Yeah, he unfortunately did and is your Mum okay with us staying?"

"She wouldn't have it any other way" Tayte answered, "How was your Mum and sister Angelo?"

"They were surprised of course to see me. They didn't want us to leave, but I said I'd come back soon, of course I failed to mention anything else"

"I'm so sorry" Noah then said,

"Why?"

"Because you've been dragged into all of this"

"I knew what I was getting myself into"

"No you didn't and I'm really sorry about everything" he kissed me,

"I love you" He said,

"I love you too", Arii appeared eating a bowl of pasta,

"Foods up" She said, everyone made their way to the kitchen, Jen was stood at the island,

"Mum where's Keane?" Tayte asked,

"He's in the garden. I think he's in pain, well, he was limping badly"

"Okay, thanks," Tayte headed out into the garden; I was sat on a bench eyes shut, "I bought you a bowl of pasta" I opened my eyes,

"Thanks, but I'm not hungry"

"And I'm not in the mood to deal with your moaning, but I have too" I smiled and took the bowl, "Mum said you were in pain"

"I don't want to say I am to any of you because you'll just accuse me of being an addict"

"No we won't"

"I'm fine"

"Keane"

"Tayte" I took a mouthful of pasta, we were soon joined by everyone else. We stayed out there long into the night, talking, well, everyone else was talking and I was just sat listening. I was planning what was to come and I was trying to keep the pain from hitting boiling point.

"Keane, we're heading in, are you coming?" Noah asked,

"Yeah, I'll be in, in a minute" I answered, everyone stood up and then Arii said something to Tayte who nodded and left, Arii came and sat on me,

"I just wanted to say that I am here for you if you ever need to talk about anything. I love you so much Keane, you are my big brother and have literally been my rock for as long as I can remember. I know it looks like the end of the world, but I'm going to be upbeat and optimistic that in the end things are going to turn out fine" She kissed my cheek,

"Thank you"

"I mean it, just because I'm only 17...I have had to grow up too" I watched her disappear and looked up at the night sky.

"I really do hope so"
