This was from October last year

I was running out of time.

"There's no way I'll leave this place without you." I breathed as I fumbled with the rusty lock, my cold, calloused hands shaking as I tried to get the doors to the filthy cell unlocked.

Crimson liquid stained my clothes in a clammy mess, but I had no time to feel uncomfortable about that. I spent so much time just to find this dreadful place and to sneak in here, and it won't go to waste. I needed to save her, because she was going to be executed soon. My best friend, Vira, who had been with me for more than a century.

"Just let me go.." she muttered, but I knew I couldn't. She had been tortured in this place for ages. I wanted this to end. She didn't deserve all the pain. She hasn't grown old yet. She hasn't lived her life to the fullest. We hadn't made enough of those happy memories. She needed to stay. I had to get her out of this place, I just had to.

"Come on, come on..." I pleaded, trying to get the lock to open as I could feel tears slowly fill my eyes.

The alarm blared loudly, the glaring light piercing my eyes, making the room flash an eerie red. They had found me, but still, I had to get her out.

A few enemy soldiers were running down the hallway, spotting me. "Hey! You're there!" one of them boomed.

"No, no.." I gasped as I desperately tried to unlock the keyhole.

"You have to go, Julie, run, you're going to die if they get here!" Vira pushed my hands off the lock, and as I glanced up to her, I could see tears building up in her eyes too.

"No, I need to get you out too, we'll leave this wretched place together!"

"It won't work! You're just going to-"

Just then, I felt a searing pain in my head. I brought a shaky hand to it, and I could feel myself losing consciousness. The world suddenly became blurry, as I fell to the ground.
