"Do I go and get her, sir?" Botan asked.

"No!" Koenma jumped. " Not yet at least. Find Yusuke first and warn him about it before he finds the criminals!"

The thunder rumbled loudly, and soon the rain began to fall on the small town and the forest that Yusuke was walking through. When he felt the first drops, he quickly sought shelter under a tree.

"Great! This stupid rain's gonna wash away his tracks."

It had been almost an hour since he'd left the hospital to search for the three thieves. He managed to find one of them by chance, but a run-in with a couple of shady locals had slowed him down. And now he was caught in the rain to boot.

Man, if Miyuki wasn't all beaten up she probably would have helped me find those crooks in no time.

At the same time though, he couldn't help but be glad she wasn't there. Those thugs would probably give her another broken bone, which in turn would give him a heart attack, and Miyuki had given him plenty of those from all the danger she'd thrown herself into so far...

Not that I'm one to talk...huh?!

Yusuke's attention was caught by a beam of light from the corner of his eye. It was coming through the thunderclouds and straight into an area of the forest... where no rain was falling in.

With a small smirk of triumph, he broke off a branch as a makeshift umbrella and began to make his way towards it.

"Oh yes, this is perfect."

Yusuke peeked around the tree trunk he was hiding behind.

At first, he saw something black zip through the air. Then suddenly a tree exploded and a demonic creature flew out of it. But as soon as it hit the ground it decayed like a flower in the middle of a desert.

The black-haired demon responsible, landed on his feet and brandished the Shadow Sword in pride.

"If the sword can make demons from trees, just think what they'll make from humans," he said. "I say we go to the next big city and carve out a thousand of them. Imagine raising an entire demon army. "

"I like the way you think Hiei." his tall comrade laughed. "If we teach them to eat souls, I even know how to feed them all. "

He pulled something from his pocket and held it up. "The Orb of Baast."
