"Say you'll remember me...

Say you'll see me again

Even if it's just in your wildest dreams"

You said that song reminded me of you, and now I have been sitting here, reveling in each and every melody to find every scrap of you I can

Playing those words over and over

Repeating all the words you've ever said, all the ones I'll never hear, all the ones I wish I could hear again

Don't you ever worry about me forgetting you, I swear it's impossible

I swear I'll see you again, how could I not when your image is ingrained in my eyelids, my skin

Every remnant of you engraved in me, a permanent piece

Of me, memories running like water through my hands, one after another, you cling to me in droplets

Fall from me and stain my carpet, my walls, so that everywhere I look you are

I only ever saw you in my wildest dreams, in gaps between reality, swimming in the beautiful fantasy of all we are, you are those dreams

Even in my sleep, permeating, a constant presence, the heat of you still dancing across my skin, I can't forget anything when the marks still show up in the mirror

Noticing little bits of you in everything I do

Seeing you when I smile because you were always the reason I did, winking at myself because I know you loved it, watching the past play out in the glass

Everything we are, again and again and again, gorgeous recollections tracing the lines of my face and wondering how you saw them

Tracing the lines of all your photos, hoping to close the distance even if only metaphorically, too soon to say I miss you without being clingy, but too long not to still wish you were next to me

So for now I dance with you, even if only in my wildest dreams
