66. Granpa's Time

Phoenix leaned over to me and whispered in my ear. "You have that face you make when you are plotting something."

I laughed and looked at him with a wide smile.

"You got no idea."

He smiled and kissed my nose.

"I suppose I can't say no to my Queen."

I snorted at that.

"You don't even know what I was thinking about," I retorted, staring at him with a raised brow.

Phoenix gave me the same look.

"What? You want me to tell you no?" he fired back.

I huffed.

"Fine!" I bit. I heard him chuckle and leaned to press a chick on my cheek, which had me blushing.

Fuck, I loved when he showed me affection.

"Momma! Dada!"

We turned around to see Brax running to us giggling, but when he got close enough, stopped when he spotted my dad. He shied away and came to hide between me and his dad.

Today we had a chat with him, explaining that he had a grandfather, who was my dad, and that he would be visiting me today, and if he wanted to meet him. He nodded, and we were hopeful of the outcome. This would be his only chance at having grandparents since Phoenix's parents were dead.

"Baby, this is my father and your grandfather. His name is Carlos and he's been very eager to meet you," I tell him, and he perked up at that, a smile appearing on his face.

"Rilly?"

"Yeah. Why don't you show him what you carry in your backpack?"

He nodded and with little steps he walked to where my dad was sitting, who had the biggest grin on his face, trying to control his excitement so he wouldn't scare Brax.

"Hello, little guy, your mommy and daddy have talked a lot about you, I couldn't wait to meet you."

My dad's tired eyes narrowed in a smile, the lines around his eyes more noticeable.

Brax blushed and shuffled with his bag. My dad moved from the seat and went to sit on the floor to be at Brax level and encouraged him to show him the stuff in his bag.

Brax, with a new resolution, kneeled in front of his grandad and opened his bag, pulling one stuff and telling him what it was and its purpose.

"Dis my white pencil case, but not white anymore cuz I paint it," Brax explained and My dad nodded, very invested in what his grandson was telling him.

While they interacted, I went to sit on Phoenix's lap and cuddled with him, both enjoying our son getting to know his grandfather. I almost cried when Brax asked my dad to help him with his homework, and they went further into the garden to draw every creature they spotted.

Next year, we were told Brax will learn about poisonous plants and to spot the difference between the bad ones from the good ones that could help you survive in case you get lost. Of course, everything is surface-level and basic since he was still a child.

Before his next year started, Phoenix would bring us to the wild part of the forest and teach us about the plants, since I didn't know either.

"Brax has your father wrapped on his little finger," teased Phoenix, and I laughed.

"Yeah, he loves kids. He has other grandchildren that are still small, but I supposed he is just excited about having a newfound grandson."

Phoenix nuzzled my neck, kissing my skin, making goosebumps spread all over my body.
