Julian's eyes narrowed as he confronted his brother Sebastian in the dimly lit living room. "Why did you come back, Seb? Why are you following me?" he demanded, his voice tinged with suspicion.

Sebastian lounged casually on the couch, a sly grin playing on his lips. "Let's just say I missed my little brother," he replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Julian's jaw clenched at his brother's words, a flicker of anger igniting in his eyes. "Don't try to twist me, brother. You're here for something," he stated firmly, his voice betraying none of the turmoil raging within him.

Sebastian chuckled, unfazed by Julian's accusations. "Have you ever thought of becoming a detective, brother?" he teased, his smirk widening.

Before Julian could respond, the sound of a knock on the door interrupted their exchange. Sebastian's grin widened as he turned to his brother. "Looks like it's your girl, Ava," he remarked, his voice laced with amusement.

Sebastian's lips curled into a smirk as he swiftly moved to answer the door with vampire speed, revealing Ava standing on the other side. "Does Julian Nightingale live here?" she asked, her voice betraying a hint of uncertainty.

With a calculated charm, Sebastian replied, "Yeah, I'm his brother, Sebastian Nightingale," his tone carrying a subtle edge that made Ava's skin prickle with unease.

Julian emerged from the shadows, his gaze meeting Ava's with a mixture of surprise and suspicion. "Come in, Ava," he said tersely, motioning for her to enter.

Sebastian casually shrugged his jacket off his shoulders, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched them. "My brother is a bit of a nerd," he taunted, his words laced with an undertone of menace as he subtly sought to undermine Julian's authority.

With a nervous laugh, Ava stepped inside, her senses on high alert as she tried to shake off the feeling of foreboding that clung to her. As they entered the dimly lit interior of Julian's home, she couldn't shake the sense that there was more to the Nightingale brothers than met the eye.

As Ava took in the surroundings of Julian's home, she couldn't help but feel a sense of intrigue. "So, this is where you live?" she remarked, her voice filled with curiosity.

Julian nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, it's kinda old-fashioned," he admitted, glancing around the dimly lit interior.

Ava's eyes sparkled with appreciation as she looked around. "I like it," she declared, her tone genuine.

Turning to face Julian, she fixed him with a determined gaze. "Today, there's a party at the mayor's house, and I want you to come with me," she announced, her voice tinged with excitement.

Julian hesitated, a hint of reluctance in his expression. "I don't know, Ava. I'm not really into parties," he confessed, his tone uncertain.

But Ava wasn't about to take no for an answer. With a persuasive smile, she leaned in closer. "Come on, Julian. It'll be fun, I promise," she urged, her eyes pleading with him to reconsider.

Julian couldn't resist the genuine enthusiasm in Ava's voice, and with a reluctant sigh, he finally relented. "Alright, Ava. I'll come with you," he agreed, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

As Sebastian stood outside the house, his heightened senses allowing him to eavesdrop on Julian and Ava's conversation, a smirk played across his lips. "That's gonna be interesting," he muttered to himself, his voice dripping with anticipation.

With a knowing glint in his eyes, Sebastian contemplated the implications of Julian's decision to accompany Ava to the party at the mayor's house. Little did Julian know, his attendance would set into motion a series of events that would have far-reaching consequences for all involved.
