The next day, when they were alone, Ron asked Cesar, "What happened to you yesterday?"

"I was upset," Cesar replied.

"But, brother, the look on your face..." Ron commented, noticing Cesar's avoidance. "Is there something you're not telling me?"

Cesar looked away and made to leave, saying, "Ah!"

Ron became certain that Cesar was hiding something. It had been a while since Ron had been able to read minds. For some reason, he no longer had the sensitivity he used to, which left him feeling ashamed. Despite this, he kept it to himself and didn't share with anyone. Such moments always left him extremely frustrated.

During dinner, Ron asked all the employees to leave them alone. After everyone had left, he began, "Poodle, now I know why Cesar is acting like this."

Cesar leaned back in his chair and mockingly asked, "What did you find out, Ron?"

Ron took a small plastic bag out of his pocket and waved it in the air. Cesar hid his face with his hands, resting his elbows on the table.

"I don't understand," Lilly confessed.

"Heroin," Ron stated.

"What?!" Lilly exclaimed in shock.

"Our friend is using heroin," Ron explained.

Cesar slapped the table and shouted, "And that's NOT your business!" He then got up from the table, visibly irritated.

Ron leaned back in his chair and asked ironically, "And now? Are you going to kill us? Again?"

"Look, this is my business, and what I do with it is private," Cesar asserted.

"Private," Ron repeated.

"It's none of your concern!" Cesar shouted.

"But it sure as hell concerns Lilly's, since she is experiencing firsthand all the side effects of this new 'hobby' of yours," Ron pointed out.

"You don't understand," Cesar grumbled.

"What is there to understand? The fact that you are becoming a threat to her? Maybe it's time to talk to the elders?" Ron suggested.

"No one will talk to anyone," Cesar insisted.

"What elders?" Lilly asked, confused.

"See what you did?" said Cesar, taking a deep breath before continuing. "Look, this is something that relates to everything else. I'm doing it to maintain our current lifestyle. Just follow the plan."

"No," Ron interjected firmly.

"What do you mean, no? This is not just your decision," Cesar argued.

"As long as it's part of your plan to continually endanger the mother, no," Ron stated firmly.

"It's all part of..." Cesar started to defend.

"No!" Ron cut him off, sounding as resolute as Cesar. "No matter what justification you create, hurting Lilly will never be part of the plan. You should be ashamed of yourself for orchestrating something like this!"

"I'm not saying I do it on purpose, but it's what has helped us in some circles," Cesar explained defensively.

"Being in a dysfunctional marriage," Ron remarked.

"Exactly! You have no idea how profitable this is becoming!" Cesar argued.

"Without a doubt, but harming Lilly, no. It seems like it's become somewhat of a bad habit for you, and it worries me," Ron said after a brief silence. "Stop it, okay?"
