I hurried home, eager to meet Cesar. All I wanted at that moment was to give him a big hug, thank him for everything he had done for me over the years, and tell him that I wanted to be with him forever and ever—no Ian, no vampires, only his, completely his.

Upon arriving home, there was no sign of Cesar. The house was closed and completely unlit. Nonetheless, I went in and searched every room, hoping he was hiding because he was hurt or something. Finding no trace of him, I approached the house staff.

"Good evening, has Cesar been here?" I asked tentatively in their language.

"No, ma'am," came the reply.

"I need to find him. He may be injured."

"Injured? What happened?"

"He... needs help!" I repeated my plea, hindered by my limited grasp of the local language. Unsure of how prudent it would be to share more.

"Yes, ma'am, we will send a search party. Now, please come in and try to calm down. I'll send some men to look for him."

I entered the house, and as he prepared tea, the staff member asked, "When was the last time you saw him? Do you remember the location?"

"It was in the desert. Please, go quickly! He may be in a lot of pain."

"Calm down, please. We'll find him," he said, serving me tea. "But... the desert is vast. Can't you specify a location?"

"No... just that it's in the desert."

"Don't you remember anything? Any details?"

"No! Just go and look for him!"

"Calm down, ma'am, please... drink your tea. I'll call one of the men; he'll assemble a team to find Cesar."

And with that, he left me. I drank the tea, but my agitation persisted. Sadness, agony, anguish—everything tormented me deeply.

Shortly after, a man arrived at the staff house. After a conversation with the staff member, he approached me.

"Alright, ma'am, he's gathering men to find Caesar. Everything will be alright."

"Thank you," I replied.

I finished the tea, thanked him once again, surprised by its calming effect; finally, I could sleep.

I woke around 5 am, immediately seeking news of Cesar. Unfortunately, there was none. So, I changed and set out to find him, instructing the household to inform me of any updates. The first call I received was from Ian.

"Don't tell me you're skipping work again?"

"Good morning, Ian," I replied tersely, lacking patience.

"You have a contract with the company, remember?"

"I really can't come to work this morning. I'm sorry. Ask that boy to handle things while I'm away. And please inform your father I'm taking my vacation early."

"Is everything alright?"

"No, or I'd already be at work, wouldn't I?"

"Sorry... stupid question... I hope you sort things out. Don't worry, that kid will manage."

"Thank you, and sorry for my behavior. It's just a rough day."

"Don't worry about it. Just keep in touch, okay?"

"I will. Goodbye."

"Miss ya," he said before hanging up.

Where to start looking for Cesar? Following the principle of starting from the last known location, I returned to the desert.

As I walked, the heat became oppressive, and I began to feel ill. I pondered which direction to take, where to find Chaos and his gang. The only certainty was their proximity.

I began to shout, calling for Cesar, for Chaos, for any sign of life. But nothing. Exhausted and overcome with emotion, I collapsed onto the sand, pleading through tears in the local language.

I woke up in the same spot, covered in sand. Nobody came. Nothing changed. The desert's silence was deafening.

Thirsty, weary, and cold, yet my skin burned. Defeated, I returned home.

The staff rushed to me, hoping for news of Cesar. They, too, had searched the city to no avail. Amin noticed my condition, suggesting I had too much sun and offering water and herbs for tea.

As I drank the tea, I remembered something extraordinary! Miguel had visited me when I was imprisoned; he surely knew the way to the camp!

Instantly uplifted, I informed Amin of my urgency. Unable to fully explain due to the language barrier, I exclaimed, "I need to go! I need to prepare!" But he stopped me.

"Hold on! Finish your tea first."

Reluctantly, I complied, downing the rest of the tea. I then hurried to shower and dress, determined to look my best for what lay ahead.
