Loss of love (hiccup x reader)

Pain

Y/n and Hiccup raced through the trees, flying in the direction of the pained roaring.
It didn't take long to get there and the sight they saw was horrible, there was 6 hunters all stabbing a skrill over and over again whilst it was chained up.
It was bleeding out, Y/n and Hiccup had to do something and fast.
They dove down and fired shots at the hunters and soon enough they all ran, leaving the wounded skrill.
They landed and both riders got off their dragons
"I'll try get near her, you stay beside the dragons" Hiccup instructed
"Okay" was all Y/n said, there was blood everywhere and her emotions where overwhelming her in the moment.
'How could someone do this to a dragon?' She thought to herself before hugging her own dragons neck as he gave a sad coo.
Hiccup had managed to slightly calm down the skrill and now the others the came with began to land
"Oh my Thor, what happened?" Astrid said with a shocked gasp
"Hunters." Y/n replied
The gang stood back and watched as Hiccup, Fishlegs and Y/n tended to the dragons wounds. She was bleeding badly and they weren't sure if they could save her
"You're okay" Y/n whispered to the dragon as she stroked her head. The dragon purred sadly under her touch.
"Y/n we are going to take the chains off now, could you ask Strike to help blast them, he's not listening to Astrid" Hiccup said as he came over and placed his chin atop Y/n's head, hugging her from behind
"Yeah sure" the girl got up and gave the skrill one final pat before going over to her own dragon again
"What's up buddy?" She questioned him as she scratched his chin, Strike just gave a sad coo and went over to the skrill and rubbed his body against hers, the skrill closed its eyes.
"Is she-" Tuffnut mumbled
"Dead." Y/n said with no emotion before jumping on Strike and taking off in the air.
She was going to find the hunters.

"Y/n wait!" Hiccup yelled over the wind as he chased his girlfriend through the air
"I need to find them Hiccup! You don't understand!" Y/n yelled too, turning her head slightly so Hiccup would be able to hear her
"I do understand!" The boy shouted again.
Y/n slowed down so he could catch up
"Y/n of course I understand, you want to hurt the hunters because they hurt a dragon but what's done is done, hurting another person won't fix that" he sighed with a knowing smile.
"I know Hiccup it's just-"
"You want them to know how they made the skrill feel" he finished her sentence with a sigh. She nodded and then flew right beside her boyfriend before speaking again
"Mind if I just sit behind you for the rest of the flight home?"
"Of course mi'lady"
She softly walked along Strike's wing and on to Toothless' and sat behind Hiccup, placing her head in the crook of his neck
"I've missed this" she sighed
"Me too."

Y/n sat on a chair in front of the fire with Strike by her side, that got home over an hour ago but she still couldn't help but feel so much anger towards those hunters. She wanted to rip their throats out.
If she hadn't came back to Berk she could have and would have done so but now she had to be 'little miss perfect' cause she was home.
"Gods I wish I never came back here!" She exclaimed in rage, not knowing Hiccup was walking in the room
"What..?" He mumbled
Y/n regretted her words immediately when she saw the hurt look on her lovers face
"Hiccup I didn't mean-"
"Well what did you mean? You've changed so much Y/n! 4 years ago you would never even think about killing someone! Now it's all you seem to do! First that guy who had captured you now you want to kill the hunters?! What has gotten into you!" The boy yelled through slightly gritted teeth
"4 years ago I hadnt had to fend for myself and I hadn't been abused and tortured! do you hear yourself Hiccup?! We are fucking vikings anyway it's not like no one you know hasn't killed someone!" The h/c girl screamed back, her dragon attempting to calm her down but she pushed his head away and stormed out her hut
"Fuck you!" She yelled as she exited with Strike soon following en suit.
Hiccup let out an angry yell and punched the wall, which hurt him more than anything so he let out yet another shout. He slumped down on the chair and put his head in his hands.
Toothless had heard the commotion and tiptoed down the stairs before letting out a sad coo at his rider
"She has changed so much Toothless" he sighed as a tear rolled down his cheek.
He wasn't sure if it was sadness or anger that flowed through him.
Sure Y/n had changed but he still loved her deeply no mattter what.
And she had hard a hard time the past few years and through that he wasn't there for her.
He was always there for people and never had been selfish but something just snapped inside him when Y/n said she wished she hadn't came home.
"Come on bud, we're going to find them" he said as he got off the chair, patted his dragon and headed out the door.
He met Gobber half way down the hill
"Have you seen Y/n?" The boy questioned
"Yeah but the lass is in an awful mood I'd stay back!" He laughed and placed a hand on the young boy's shoulder
"Thanks Gobber!" He shouted as he ran off.

Y/n flew at high speeds through the fluffy clouds as her h/c hair flowed behind her
"Woohoooo!" She yelled out as all her worries and stress seemingly melted away.
They dove downwards towards the seas and twirled at the speed of light as they went.
Strike evened out just above the salty water and it splashed behind them, leaving both rider and dragon soaked but they didn't mind they both just loved the feeling of the wind as they soared.
They went in between scaldrens and Y/n even touched one's fin in a high five sort of way.
Strike let out a happy roar as they again went upwards at high speeds before evening out about 400 meters above the water
"Okay buddy, free fall?" Y/n questioned.
Her dragon let out a grumble of disapproval
"Oh come on Strike! You only live once, don't be a baby!" The girl laughed and scratched behind the dragon's ear, he let out a happier sound before Y/n took her feet out her stirrups and leaned on her knees before finally standing on top her dragon's smooth back
"Here goes nothing!"
She jumped off and dived herself down back towards the water, her eyes where stinging from the speed and her ears had popped but she continued free falling for another few seconds before putting herself in a starfish position to even out her speed
"Strike!" She yelled over the wind to let her dragon know she needed a lift.
He came racing over and slotted himself under his rider and they took off doing flips and tails through the sky.

They smoothly landed on a sea stack about a 20 minute fly away from Berk and just sat looking into the starry sky
"You know I love you more than anything buddy?" She sighed as she leaned against her dragons long body.
He replied with a coo before rubbing his head on her hands.
She must smiled and they sat for another while before a voice interrupted their thoughts
"Y/n.."
"Hi Hiccup"
"I wanted to say I'm sorry" the boy spoke nervously as he approached
"So do I" Y/n smiled as she patted the space next to her
"What I said about you changing, I don't really mean it well I did - erm - you've changed in a good way" his face het up at his own words
Y/n laughed before replying
"Thanks Hic, so have you"
She smiled and placed a kiss on his soft lips.
Toothless then came bounding over and shoved his head between them, licking Hiccup's face
"You've always got to ruin the moment bud!" Hiccup playfully scolded him as the dragon just laughed
"He's just jealous" Y/n laughed with the boys as Strike moved away from behind her so she fell flat on her back.
She shot the dragon a glare and then laughed even louder.
"Oh my Thor my stomach hurts from laughing!" She said (between more laughs)
"Mine too!" Hiccup replied

After a while they had settled down and were just sitting in a comfortable silence until Hiccup spoke up
"Well this has been an eventful day" he sighed
"You're telling me" Y/n sighed back
She was still upset about the Skrill and of course rightfully mad but she decided to just move on.
After all over the years she learned she can't save them all.
"So mi'lady how about we head home" Hiccup spoke, breaking Y/n out her thoughts
"Don't need to ask me twice, race you!" She responded, quickly leaping on her dragon and taking off into the dark skies
"Cheater!" Hiccup shouted as he stumbled up and ran to his own dragon before jumping on and he too shot off.
