It was indeed survival of the fittest; a battle of strategical defense and offense.

Suddenly, a persons started running towards the person who threw his gloves to the ground, "Leader, we found it!"

The leader of the alliance recon team suddenly stood straight in alert, "You found the team?!"

"No, but we found their post and signs of their inhabitance," the recon team member embarrassingly scratched his nose. However, who could blame him? They have been scouring every inch of the island just to find even a scent of the first team. Who wouldn't be extremely excited at the first clue they had found?!

"What," the recon leader confusedly looked at his other members beside him for an explanation. Unfortunately, they were just as confused.

The recon member simply gestured for the others to follow him as it was better to show them.

On the way, he said, "We found traces of human activity near the side of mountain and decided to investigate. We nearly weren't able to find it because of how good they camouflaged the mouth of the cave."

The recon leader looked at the other person, slightly flabbergasted how he seemed to praise the first ranking team too much for someone who had given them a lot of trouble.

And yet, the recon leader couldn't help but understand his fellow team member when they arrived at the entrance of the cave. If the recon member didn't point it out, he wouldn't have been able to notice the difference as well.

"This is it?"

"Yes, leader. You can see the traces of human activity. They must have replanted the bushes and other plants here and moved that boulder to hide the cave."

"Good job. How were you even get the idea of looking below the bushes?"

"..." The recon member couldn't admit that he actually tripped and got a taste of soil first before he was able to discover it.

"Have you gone inside yet?"

The recon member shook his head, indicating that they weren't sure if anyone was indeed inside or if it was indeed the first ranking team's hideout.

However, due to the alliance that most teams have already joined and their recent conquests, the recon team had an almost solid idea of how many teams there are and to which area. Only the first-ranking team was so elusive!

The leader nodded his understanding, gesturing with his head at the other people to get into position. Everyone suddenly began get ready to raid the inside of the cave and apprehend the inhabitants.

Four people worked together to push the humongous boulder out of the way. Once open, the subjugation team that accompanied the recon team headed inside.

Unfortunately, everyone was met with an empty cave.

Coming inside, they realized that the cave got bigger the more they walked inside.

"Is that the post?" The subjugation leader asked the recon leader.

"It seems to be. Where did they go?" The recon leader looked at what seemed to be calculations of the point system carved on the cave wall and the random doodle drawings on the ground near a makeshift stone bench.

"Will they have left as soon as they were alerted by us?"

"That seemed unlikely." The recon leader pointed at the leftovers a bonfire. "They must have left the cave hours ago, no, maybe even earlier that... my best guess is late morning or noon."

"Hmm, but why? Isn't this their base? Shouldn't they defend it tooth and nail?"
