Your mother was in the hospital, having fallen in her room and hitting her head against the dresser. The gash was bad and her Parkinson's had progressed to a state where the doctors decided to go with an operation called DBS or Deep Brain Stimulation. It was basically a pacemaker for the brain and they needed to get some of the swelling down in case she had any hemorrhaging. You got back into California early and went straight to the hospital, where the likelihood of your mother surviving the operation was good but still completely risky. You did your best to comfort Erin who was guilt stricken and the two of you got coffee and talked about how she was doing prior to the accident. You let your women know what was happening and most offered to come out but you told them to hold off until you knew something. The hours went by and you sent Erin home and called Danica to tell her what was happening and for her to take some days off. She asked if you needed anything and you asked if she could contact anyone that had meetings or things set up and let them know you'd have to reschedule, work was far from your mind.

She said she would take care of it and you eventually got a call from Alex who was panicking and talking about flying out but you calmed him down and told him to standby until you learned anything. The hours ticked away and you were asleep when you were awoken by a nurse and doctor who gave you the news. Your mom was stable and her signs were good. She would be incubated for a few days to help clean the wound and drain the swelling in her brain. You asked to be able to see her and they led you to her room where the sight of her caused you to break down. The doctor and nurse left you alone and promised to check in on her as often as they could. You texted everyone back and let them know what was going on. After that everything was a blur. The next few days happened so fast and all you did was sit in your mom's room, thinking about things and checking your phone to give updates.
