[Riley]:
I've walked with the shackles on my ankles for miles
Allowed the sun to burn my skin a nice lobster red
And the sweat would drench my body like lying in a bath
I've given my blood, sweat, and tears for me to be seen
I have fought tooth and nail just so I could be heard
But all along I've been noticed by myself who always knew
So I unlock the shackles and make a run for it
Because the sun is the motivation that I need
They can't hurt me because I'm not who they want
They want the control that they have lost
And they'll chase me until the sun goes down
But the road less traveled is the path I go on now
[Peterson]:
I waver and falter in the darkness.
I look behind and take a step towards their chains.
I regard my knowing and remain vigilant.
What will the dawn reveal?
The familiar is calling me back.
Anguish, uncertainty, palpable dejection
Knowing...
A ray glimmers and cuts to my heart
The warmth envelopes me. Am I alive?
Turning, I lift into the sun.
From the road a flicker, a glare, a streak
A flow, a glitter, a stream.
The road less traveled hurries me into it's embrace.
[Riley]:
I've been the prototype for their laughter
But I'm not the subject of what they're after
I know that it gets hard and it gets worse
I've never given up on making sure you're okay
And I'll be sure to respect who you are
Because you're still a human like I am
So I unlocked the shackles and made a run for it
Because the love is the motivation that I need
They can't hurt me because I'm not who they want
They want the attention from their parent which they have lost
And they'll chase me until the sun goes down
The road less traveled is the path I go down now
