~~* Luke's POV *~~

The penthouse was silent. Luke stood in his room facing the tall mirror in his walk-in closet. Luke fixed his tie and pulled on his grey blazer. Walking back to his bedroom lit by the natural light coming through the glass walls, he picked up his phone lying on the king-sized bed with padded walls. His footsteps sounded louder in the room due to the hardwood floor. He walked across the room and sat in the seating area. Pulling on his Derby shoes, Luke strolled past the hallway, stone dining table, and salon and stopped in front of the elevator. He checked his calendar for important events of the day and realized the new interns were coming in today.

"I hope fresh minds can put some sense into the rusty brains of the existing employees here."

The elevator opened on the second floor, and Luke exited it and was greeted by Philip.

"Good morning, Sir. How are you feeling today?"

"Good morning, Philip. I am fine."

"That is great! The interns are starting today."

"Yes, I know. Make sure you inform them about the work ethics here."

"Absolutely."

"I will be in my office. After the introductions, get straight to the project. So hopefully, we stop creating non-value added products."

"Yes, Sir. I will see to that."

Luke walked to his office and turned on his laptop. The sound of a phone ringing brought Luke's attention to his phone. Scowling at the called ID, Luke turned his phone upside down.

"What makes them think I will pick up their call?"

Resuming his work, he kept ignoring the calls that were disturbing his peace of mind.

Philip knocked on the door and poked his head from behind the door.

"Sir, one of the interns is here."

Luke looked at the time and noticed that there were a few minutes left until the office hours officially started.

"Let's wait until it is 9. Bring all of them in on time."

"Yes, Sir. Um. I was wondering if you should be present in each meeting since it could intimidate the interns."

"They need to know that I am directly involved. The previous case study report has been terrible. I can not bear another unproductive endeavor."

"I will be managing the entire thing personally. You should not worry about it."

Luke looked up from his laptop and directly into Philips's eyes.

"I have my way of running a company. I am not open to suggestions right now. I will let you know when I need one. You can call in the interns. Let's begin working as soon as possible."

"Yes, Sir."

Philip was about to leave the room.

"Philip, I would like to see the CVs of these interns. I know it might not have much, but their academic records can give me an idea of who to invest more time in."

Philip turned and gave him a nod.

"I will ask Jade to bring their files to you."

"Thank you."

Luke resumed working on his system. A few minutes later, he heard a knock on his door. He responded without removing his eyes from the document on the screen.

"Come in."

"Good morning, Mr. Myers."

"Morning."

"Here are the files that you requested."
