Caitlin tucked her son into bed
' Get some sleep mister. We've got a busy day ahead of us tomorrow"
' But mummy I'm not sleepy"
' Close your eyes. That will help you fall asleep"
' Tell me a story"
' What now? It's a bit late now"
' Please mummy"
' Ok, just one. What do you want to hear?"
' About you and daddy"
Caitlin gulped. She couldn't go back there again
' Our stories are a bit boring. I'll read you one of your favourite books"
Caitlin read to her son until he slowly drifted off. She got up, and tucked him in, kissing his forehead
' Sweet dreams my little prince"
Caitlin tiptoed across the room and turned off his light, and quietly closed the door
Caitlin flopped into bed. Her son's request had unnerved her. He had never mentioned his dad until now. Why now though? She supposed it was only natural as he was growing up but she didn't know what to tell him. Maybe she should tell him how they met. That was a funny story. Caitlin closed her eyes and let herself be transported back to that day
Caitlin was busy buying some things for the house that she lived in. She looked at her watch and gasped. She hadn't realised that it was this late. She had been there for hours. She quickly ran to the taxi rank and prayed that there was one available. She breathed a sigh of relief as she spotted one and quickly got in
' Let's go, and try to be quick. I'm running very late"
The driver turned around and just stared at her
' What's the matter? Have you never seen a girl before?"
' Huh?'
' Are you going to start this taxi or just continue to keep staring at me?"
The driver turned around and mumbled to himself, " taxi?"
' Look mister, I got into this taxi because I needed a ride home. Now if you can't take me, just tell me. I'll find another taxi"
The driver smiled to himself, " you are absolutely right. I'm very sorry. Just tell me your address and I'll drop you off"
Caitlin muttered off her address
' I'm very sorry. My gps is not working today. Would you mind directing me?"
' Fine, I'll direct you. Can we please just go?"
' Can't you go any faster?"
' As you wish"
Caitlin screamed as she fell into her seat
' What are you trying to do? Kill me?"
' Just doing what you said"
' Fine. Go slow but get me home in one piece"
The driver adjusted his mirror and just stared at Caitlin. Caitlin leapt forward and pushed the mirror down
' Look out", she yelled as he swerved to avoid hitting a person crossing
' If you keep your eyes on the road and stop staring at me in the mirror, we won't have accidents like this"
' Sorry"
' What kind of a driver are you? How did you get your license? Who let you drive a taxi? You know what, just let me out here. I'll manage the rest"
' We're almost there. Let me drop you"
' Let me out, otherwise I'll scream"
Caitlin got out, and walked up to the window
' Next time, drive carefully. You might hurt someone"
' Noted"
' Right, how much do I owe you?"
The driver got out of his car, " nothing it's on me"
' Why?"
' Because I'm not a taxi driver"
' Huh? What do you mean?"
' What you just heard"
' But why did you give me a lift home?"
' Because you climbed into my car and asked for a lift. I never say no to a pretty girl"
' But you could have told me the truth"
' When? You got into my car and I just rolled with it"
' So you just let me make a fool out of myself?
The driver just laughed causing Caitlin to get angry
' Whatever" she muttered angrily, walking away
' I'm Barry", he shouted as she turned around
' So?"
' Just remember this name and face. We'll meet again very soon"
' I hope not. I have no interest in meeting you again so I don't know where you got that impression from"
' Well we'll leave it up to fate. If fate decides in my favour, we will definitely meet again"
' I hope my fate is not that cruel"
' Ouch! That hurts"
' Whatever", Caitlin said angrily as she walked off
Barry smiled, watching her go. She was a strange girl, but very beautiful
