Caitlin felt herself being woken by the sunlight coming in through her windows. She yawned and opened her eyes. She grabbed her phone to check the time and realised what day it was today. She sat up in bed and checked her messages.

She sighed. Ofcourse he would be the first person to text her. This was something that he'd done every year since they got together. Even when they had broken up, he sent her a happy birthday text. Just a text with no message or anything else. She had asked him why do it if they weren't together. His reply was it was his thing and he'd do it every year no matter what, saying that she didn't have to read it and could just delete it if it bothered her that much. She opened his message

Happy Birthday Caitlin. I don't know where we stand but I wish you all the best in the world and I'm always here for you,  as a friend if you want me to be. I know that I'm an idiot but I was always your lovable idiot. I hope that one day I can be again

Caitlin sighed. She was confused. She didn't know what the future held for her and Barry, but she remembered Ronnie telling her as he was dying that she was stubborn and to not let this stubbornness ruin her life

Caitlin walked back quickly and urgently back to her house. She couldn't believe what Oliver had done. She had suspected it was coming but she didn't think he'd be stupid enough to do it without asking her what she felt. She had tried to let him down gently and had fled from the scene to avoid any further embarrassment for him or his family.  She couldn't believe that he thought that she felt this way. Why did men take a woman being friendly and polite with them to mean she was flirting with them? She hadn't given him any Indication that she felt something for him. To her he was a good friend, or he was

Caitlin quickly unlocked the door and started throwing clothes into her suitcase. It was time to go. Why was everyone assuming things about her? There was a sudden banging on the door

' Caitlin open up"

' Go away Oliver"

' No. We're not leaving it like this"

Caitlin angrily opened the door

' What?"

' I don't understand what happened"

' Let me make it clear to you. I don't love you, I have never done. I thought that we were friends but obviously I was wrong"

' We are"

' Really? Then why did you propose? Have I ever given you any indication that I feel something for you?"

Caitlin grabbed her suitcase

' Maybe it was my fault for being myself with you. But that doesn't mean I'm interested. I was myself around you because I've known you for forever. I thought we were friends. I'm such an idiot for thinking that we were just friends"

' Oliver, I'm stubborn. You know that. But a friend of mine told me to not let my stubbornness ruin my life. I've just realised that he's right. There's only ever been one guy for me. Barry. I'm just angry at him right now, but that doesn't mean that I don't love him. I do and always will. I don't know what the future holds for us, but I have to follow my heart. I can't let my stubbornness ruin everything. I have to try"

Caitlin hailed a taxi to the airport

' I'm coming back Barry. Please be there for me"

Duff, duff, duff. Will he still be there? As always, feedback appreciated
