The drive over to Nailea's house was hectic. People are getting off work so the traffic was horrible. I let out a sigh of relief as I pulled into her driveway. I stopped and rolled down my window so the guard could see who I am. He smiled at me politely and let me through. I thanked him and drove further up the driveway. I parked my car in the garage and made my way into the house.

As I entered, I heard Practice by Drake playing faintly over the speakers. I walked further into the room and soon entered the kitchen. The smell of my favorite. Shrimp and chicken Alfredo. I squeal to myself silently over the fact that she remembered this was one of my favorites. I'm falling for her harder each day and she doesn't even know.

I snap out of my trance when I see Nailea walking out from her pantry. She goes over to the stove and adds seasoning into the pasta. I take that as my cue to walk behind her and place my arms around her waist. When she feels my presence behind her, she immediately turns around and grabs my neck pushing me against the counter. With her free hand she grabs a knife and places it against my throat. My eyes widen in shock and so do hers when she realizes it's me.

"Oh my god! Aspen, I am so sorry." She says releasing me from her grip. "I thought you were an intruder or something."

I chuckle nervously while rubbing my neck. "You're okay, now I know that you can protect me against intruders." Nailea walks towards me pulling my body against her. "I'll always protect you." She says giving me a peck on the lips.

"After this stunt you pulled? I think I need protection against you." I say smiling. She pushes my shoulder playfully muttering "shut up." I take a seat at the island as she plates our food. "So, what made you invite me over for dinner?" I ask as she sets my plate down in front of me. The aroma of the food immediately hits my nose. It smells so good. I stand up to grab two wine glasses from the cabinet.

"I can't just invite you over for dinner without me having a reason behind it?" She narrows her eyes at me while tilting her head to the side.

"You can. I was just asking." She hums and me before grabbing a bottle of wine and pouring us each a glass. I take a sip before taking a bite of my food. I close my eyes in satisfaction when the taste hits my tongue.

"Is it good or what?" I turn my head to see Nailea smirking at me as she takes a sip of her wine. I flip her off and continue to chew on my food.

"What were you doing at home all day?" She asks me.

I wipe my mouth before answering her. "I was home with Paityn. We made these fruit bars that she saw on Instagram reels and she ate the whole damn thing. I literally only had one piece." Nailea chuckles at this and reminds me of the time where Paityn came to visit me at work for lunch. She brought each of us soup from Panera Bread but ended up eating mine when I went to the bathroom. She tried to blame it on Nailea but I knew it was not her because she doesn't eat soup.
