Chapter 16

Napuno ng bulungan ang buong cafeteria nang makarating kami. I pursed my lips, my cheeks turning into red as I held my chin up.

Keogh searched for a vacant table while I spotted Eury and Ellias from afar. Nakita ko ang paghampas ng babae kay Ellias na sinaway siyang agad. I also saw Rouhi, who smirked; he was with his girlfriend, Hera.

"Find us a table, I'll buy our food." ani ng kasama ko.

"Wait! Let me come with you, let me pay for us this time."

Kinunutan niya ako ng noo. "Just  go find a vacant table. Ako na—"

"No, I'll pay." giit ko. "I will not accept a no from you."

Napapikit ito. "Alright, then find us a table at ako muna ang magbabayad. Pay me, instead."

Pinaningkitan ko siya ng mata. "Sabi mo iyan." saad ko at hinanapan kaming dalawa ng table, ignoring the pair of eyes that was watching us.

"What was just that? I thought Sky was just bluffing last time! Why are they together?"

"I think they're really together, literally!"

"Or maybe he's just one of those guys that Sky will dump-"

"Tumahimik ka nga Jill!"

Nilingon ko si Keogh na nasa may counter. I wonder if it's bothering him. Pero mukhang wala lang siya kaniya because he just looked at me back, naramdaman ang tingin ko at nagtatanong na tiningnan ako pabalik.

I just shook my head. Ako ang nagbayad ng pagkain namin, wala rin naman siyang nagawa.

Naulit iyon kinabukasan. And then the next day. And then the following days.

Our paths would always cross every time the lunch hit the bell, sometimes in our break time, and vacant na sumasakto sa amin.

Hindi ko alam kung paano, but I became so used to it. I've been used to bumping into him anywhere. And I've been used to the way he can make me feel things that I'm starting to get used to.

But then, there are times that I wish we would not.

Katulad ngayon.

I barely make it to the comfort room. Pagkababa ko palang ng sasakyan ay naramdaman ko na agad ang paghalukay sa aking sikmura. I felt the strong urge to throw up what I ate this morning.

Mariin akong napapikit at napalunok, feeling the sudden nausea. Umikot ako para makita si Fraida sa sasakyan at nakita itong nakapanood sa akin, nakakunot ang noo.

I heaved a deep breath and stepped back, gesturing them to go. "Sige na, Fraida."

"Ayos lang ba kayo, Miss-"

"I'm fine, umalis na kayo, papasok na ako." paalam ko, pilit na ipinagsasawalang bahala ang halo-halong pakiramdam sa aking katawan.

My head feels spinning, my tummy feels horrible, and I'm sweating bad. Agad akong pumanhik sa loob ng school at halos takbuhin na ang pinakamalapit na cr.

May mga ilang bumati sa akin, but I was not able to greet them back. Paano ko pa magagawa iyon.

And worst, I saw Keogh walking in the same hallway I was in and stopped when he saw me.

Not now...

Nasapo ko ang aking bibig nang maramdaman ang pagsama ng aking pakiramdam.

Agad akong pumasok sa girls comfort room at pumasok sa pinakamalapit na cubicle. I fell on my knees and threw up all I had this morning, along with the pills that I've been taking.
