"SO HOW WAS your trip?" Haejin's dad asked, at the two sat in his hospital room, her perched on the end of his bed. Both of them were sipping hot chocolate in plastic cups purchased at the hospital cafe.

The fall weather was far more apparent now, wind picking up and temperatures dropping. It was miserable.

"It was good," Haejin said. "Our project got second place." Her father nodded. "Second place is good. Good enough for me, if that makes any difference" he added, a small smile appearing on his daughters face.

"Mom wasn't happy though," Haejin tightened her grip on the cup in her hands. "We came second by only four points.  She said it was a shame." She rubbed her nose with the back of her hand, sniffling a bit.

Haejin was one of those people who's bodies hated the cold. Every year around this time, her nose would get all stuffy and her throat would get irritated. Maybe because of the sudden drops in temperature, especially in a much more remote city like Sangang. Or maybe because she didn't care for any fruit except for strawberries.

"Your mother has always been a perfectionist," her father said, taking a sip of his drink. "It's a flaw which many people find hard to ignore" he said. "It's the reason I divorced her" he added savagely, causing Haejin to choke on her drink slightly.

"When are you going to be discharged?" Haejin asked, changing the topic. Her father shrugged his shoulders. Hopefully in a couple of days. Why?"

Haejin took a deep breath, sighing before speaking. "I just want you to be back to normal. I miss you at home." He smiled at her. "I'll try my best to recover quickly."

He was discharged two days later.

At the beginning, things seemed fine.

Haejin and her father would eat meals together, he would cook for her after school and in the morning. For the first couple of days, he was often tired and slept for a lot of the time, but Haejin thought it had something to do with the medication he was taking to cope.
