Worker Ants

We all sat in Mr Andrews's office staring at all the things he had, most of which were put out as a way of flaunting who he was and who he knew.

"You can learn a lot from ants...These  fire ants can teach you a lot...about successful societal structure." Mr Andrews began heading over to his ant farm.

We had all found ourselves in his office partly as a way of orientation to the first day of classes, a party because of yesterday's assembly fiasco.

"Come here. You see there's one in there a queen. The rest are worker ants. Everybody pulls their weight. Nobody complains. There's harmony and growth. Same here at Eden Hall." Mr Andrews continues.

"Huh, females ruling even in the ant world...sick," I say.

Mr Andrews shoots me a look of anger, that's not the teaching point he was trying to get across.

"Only you are the workers, the backbone." Mr Andrews returns to saying.

"And you're the queen? " Goldberg replies with sassiness

Andrew simply chooses to ignore the comment and walk back to his desk.

"There are a lot of parents and students alike that are concerned with your presence in the school and your impact on the school's prestige and long-withstanding reputation. It's simple, pull your wait, win your games, and don't do anything to wreak out reputation and you will continue to have a place at Edan Hall." He firmly said why leaning against his desk.

We all nodded our heads in agreement, some more obviously than others. Over to my left, I could see a rather pissed-off Charlie.

I could understand why he was hesitant or a bit upset, we shouldn't have everyone watching our every action, but it was the only way we were gonna all stay together.

"Okay now get to your first classes" Andrew's dismissed us.

🏒🏒🏒

I walked into my first-ever American class, not sure how I was supposed to feel. The classrooms look exactly like they do in the movies, with the little desks and everything. I set down my bag and took a seat in the middle of Charlie and Julie.

I began reaching into my bag to grab all the stuff I thought I needed for class, not sure what the dynamics of American school are.

While trying to decide whether it was a laptop or handwritten type of class a platinum blonde girl comes strutting up to my desk, I hardly would have noticed her approaching me if she didn't clear her throat.

I peered up from my desk, she looked down at me in a judgmental way.

I looked at Charlie and Julie, unsure what was going on right now.

"Can I help you?" I say confused.

"You're in my seat"

I'm taken aback by what she says.

"Yeah sick, nice to meet you im Elyse by the way" I sarcastically say, trying to point out her rudeness.

"Get out" she simply replies, her expression never changing.

By this time a few more of her pals had shown up and were standing behind her.

"No? I was here first and like how can you have a spot when it's the first day of class"

I tried to balance my tone not trying to be too bitchy on my first day. However, the chick needed her head whacked around a few times.

By now the class had gone silent as everyone watched our exchange.
