Scholarship ceremony

"Uhhh what do you mean you don't know where they are?" I ask

"From what we know Jesse is at some boarding school with his brother, as for Dean, not a single clue" Adam replies

I glance over at River, she looks fine but I know she's secretly really upset.

"We've tried writing to him...but no reply" Julie chips in

"Well-" Charlie began but was quickly shut down by the speaker.

"Welcome welcome everyone," the man in the fancy suit said.

Everyone went quiet and listened.

"Good morning I'm principal Green...today we are here to officially hand the scholarships to Eden hall academy to the Minnesota mighty ducks " He continued

We all just stood there awkwardly,

"Get up there you dinguses," Bombay said out of the corner of his mouth before shoving us up towards the stage.

We all walked slowly up to the stage as the audience began to applaud. It was so awkward and I honestly don't know why, I mean why did we have to do this stupid thing anyway? Why didn't they just give us our scholarship in private? Guess it's all about the image I suppose, gotta make sure everyone knows what the "hottest school" is up to.

We all grouped on stage, I stood next to Charlie and looked out to the audience. Among the parents of the rest of the team photographers and more posh-looking people were talking there, we defiantly didn't fit in.

"We would like to formally welcome all members of the mighty ducks on a full-year scholarship to Eden hall... we hope that they can bring great success to our junior varsity team this year!" Principal Green finished.

He slyly leaned into the team trying to get every photo opportunity he could.

I looked up at Charlie and saw that he looked as unimpressed as I did. At this point giving us a scholarship seemed more of a 'keeping up with the Joneses' situation. However I shouldn't complain, I mean I have a full scholarship to one of the prestigious sports schools.

After a few minutes of awkward photo-taking and media bullshit, we all got off stage and back to the coach.

"What was that bullshit!" I whispered.

"Yeah I wasn't expecting them to do a whole thing," Connie said

"Rich people will be rich people," Adam said.

We all turned to face Adam.

"Banksy... are you serious"

"Dude you complaining about rich people is the same as an alcoholic complaining about alcohol," I  said.

Everyone chucked.

I grabbed Adam in a headlock and gave him a noogie.

"You know I'm just taking the piss Banks"

"Was the school as this serious as it was when you came here coach?" Fulton asked

Bombay nodded.

"But that's the price you pay for good education and training"

"We'll that's just more of an excuse to cause some mischief" I say.

I couldn't think of anything better, pranking stuck up people.

10 minutes later the media began to leave and the parents bid goodbye. It was just us and the coach.

"What are we supposed to do now?" Goldberg asked.

Just as Goldberg finished his sentence principal Green walked up to us with a younger-looking lady.

"Hey new students, this is Mrs. Andrews our admissions and guidance counselor... she will be moving you into your dorms and getting you prepared for your first day of school"

We all gave her a little wave.

"Well I should be leaving you all then, good luck and I'll see you all at the welcome assembly!"

Welcome assembly? For fucks sake... I mean I just want to spend my time with my team and enjoy the benefits of a full scholarship.

"We'll why don't I give you all a tour, eh?" Mrs. Andrews asked.
