Yu Yan stilled as he perked his ears for long while, waiting for Chen WangZhi's signal.

"Ooh ooh aah aah~!"

"What was that?" The team resting nearby all stood up in alertness.

"Ooh ooh aah aah~!"

"A monkey?"

"There were no mention of animals in the instructions."

"Is it part of the pre-test? I heard that the instructors were changing a few—"

""Aaaaah!!""

The team's conversation was cut short as ringing chorus of screams spooked the perching birds away. Silently, the team conversed with their eyes.

"..." One of them swallowed dryly.

That scream sounded a bit familiar; similar to their scout's voice. Their team leader looked at one person, who in turn grabbed a long stick like a spear and nodded as he ran to the post to protect it, while the others including their leader headed over to see what happened. It would be all over if their post's location was shown to the others.

Seeing the person running towards him, Yu Yan ducked back into the nearest tree, but not after scanning the three terminals on his arm. Hurriedly, he sneaked away and climbed the tallest tree that was still within the scope of the post. Upon a branch, he sat down and reached over to untie a string. He watched as the team's leader took lead towards where Chen WangZhi should be throwing a beehive's nest at the scouts.

The moment he took a step out, he loosened his grip on the string a little and Gazef's terminal lowered directly into the post's invisible dome of scope.

Donk!

"Ow!" One of the members almost fell backwards. The third person behind caught him.

Abruptly, the leader crouched down so as to avoid any projectiles that could have harmed his teammte. He alertly surveyed around trying to find the source.

"Andrei, I'll go." The third person said after he confirmed that his companion was fine, if not having his nose injured.

The leader nodded, "Go left." He instructed before preparing to run to the right to execute a hammer and anvil strategy to corner their ambusher. Just as he was about to run—

Donk!

The look in Andrei's eyes changed. They were already in a hidden position which means that the attacker had already changed position in those few seconds. Or worse, there was more than one person ambushing them and they were, in fact, the one encircled instead.

This was not good. If all three of them had been stopped here, then Marcus, who was left to guard the post alone would be overwhelmed. It was his wrong decision to leave only one person to guard!

Andrei immediatly turned around and signaled his team to retreat when he himself finally found the source of the sound—

Donk!

The leader fell down backwards with stars in his eyes. A trickle of blood had slowly trickled down from his nose; proof he, like his team, had hit something face first and unguarded, instead of having been shot by something from afar.

This was the conclusing that Andrei came up with, because if he was to be shot by an attacker, then he should have been hit by them at the back of his head instead of the face. It also didn't make sense that nothing happened even after waiting for such a long time. If this was really an ambush, then the ideal time to incapacitate them was when they were all down and dizzy from having been hit in the head.
