166. Scum Self-Rescue Plan (QT)

Synopsis:

Impressions: From the same author as  I Am a Big Villain. It's a worldhopping MC whitewashing scums, some arcs have romance but some are non-CP.

So our MC is an orphan who has several younger adoptive siblings. Just when their youngest got into college, MC died in an accident. He feels peaceful actually cos he no longer has any regrets, but he was a bit interested about the System so he still agreed to bind. lol.

MC's task is to clear the scum value / resentment to the OG. Scum value is based on the perception of the people around MC.

Arc 1 - Educated Youth Returns to the City (Chapter 1-18) - OG was sent to the countryside by his own brother. Later, he married FL and they lived happily, until educated youths were allowed to go back in the City. After going back, OG abandoned his wife and daughter; married a 'city person' arranged by his family and had a new daughter. MC comes back to the countryside to bring his wife and daughter to the City, they set up a stall selling food. Life started getting better and better.​

Arc 2 - I Heard I'm a Phoenix Man (Chapter 19-36) - OG is a poor boy from the countryside and was able to get into a good University. FL is a rich City girl who pursued him. OG became a couple with her so he can take advantage of her family. After inheriting FL's family business, he showed his true colors and stopped being good to her. MC comes in and whitewashed himself pretending that he only said those words (FL overheard OG saying that he was only with her so he can use her family as a shortcut for his career) cos he felt unworthy of FL and wanted her to break up with him. MC started his own career and showed that he was worthy of FL.

Arc 3 - Son of an Aristocratic Family Becomes a Farmer's Son (Chapter 37-58) - True and Fake Son/Daughter. OG finds out that he was mistakenly held when he was a child and he is actually not the Duke's eldest son but from a farmer's family. OG is unwilling so he made trouble and even wanted to marry the True Daughter so he can stay in the Duke's family. In the end, he was kicked out. MC willingly follows his real parents and studied hard to be an official. After getting himself a 'backer', he exposed that the Duke's wife intentionally exchanged the children back then to secure her position as the main wife.

Arc 4 - Midlife Crisis (Chapter 59-68) - OG is a balding IT professional (lol), after being flattered by a pretty young woman, he divorced his wife so he can marry the mistress. MC arrives before their affair and he exposes his baldness / being old hoping to discourage the young girl. Meanwhile, he also appreciates his old wife more and encourage her to also have her own career / stop being a housewife now that their son have grown up.

Arc 5 - Sister (Chapter 69-78) - MC receives the memory late and OG's little sister have already committed suicide. MC revenges on those who bullied her / drove her to her death.

Arc 6 - For Phoenix Queen (Chapter 79-90) - Ancient times. OG is the Emperor. He was originally the mediocre Ninth Prince with no ambition. He married FL, the daughter of a General in the border. Later, when his Father-in-law suppressed those who rebelled(? I forgot. lol), he was worried on who to put on the throne so he just decided on OG. lol. After becoming Emperor, the power and authority got into his head and started accepting concubines and even disliked his previous Queen / wife. MC comes in a whitewashes himself with #spoiler amnesia and later 'possession' to explain why he treated his wife coldly in the previous years.

Arc 7 - Reasonable Prodigal (Chapter 91-103) - Republic of China / Japanese invasion. OG is the prodigal second son of a medicine family. Everyone is after their ancestral formula. The older brother went missing and later, the whole family was tortured for it. OG is cowardly so he chose to become a traitor to save his life. MC comes in and #spoiler realizes that the older brother should not really be missing but that he was sent away by their Father for safety. MC joins the resistance and later died as a Hero.

Arc 8 - Benevolence of Doctors (Chapter 104-113) - OG is a taciturn doctor. After saying 'unkind words' to a hysterical family member of a patient, he became notorious online. MC comes in and shows no repentance but he is still doing his job and saving lives. Later, #spoiler it was revealed that the hysterical family member is actually the wife of a murderer. Her husband killed OG's father (who's also a Doctor) after he was unable to save their son, but the punishment wasn't heavy cos they were 'poor and pitiful', they also never gave an apology to MC's family. MC raised attention to medical disputes wherein the medical staff are often attacked by patients / family members but the masses would always side with them just because they're pitiful / emotional etc.

Hmm... whether the arcs, or MC's method of whitewashing etc, there isn't really anything new / original about it., especially the Fake Son/True Daughter. I'm pretty sure I've read this plot before and even the motive is the same, plus it was also in ancient times. I guess my favorite is the Sister arc (revenge!), the Doctor arc (the reveal and punishment(?) was satisfying) and the Hero arc (that letter to the Dad hit my tear button), but it doesn't really standout compared to other Male MC Worldhopping I've read before :(
