In a normal world

Warm streams of water beat on my back. I enjoyed the bath after this disgusting road. The door could be heard opening. A minute later, Troy was beside me. He put his chin on my shoulder and hugged me. We stood there for a couple more minutes. Then I turned off the water to talk about Robert's settlement and turned to him. But Troy beat me to it and spoke first:

"I love you, Dell. And I will never let go," Troy said roughly, squeezing his arms tighter. I laughed.

"I think we should go with Robert. It's pointless to stay here. You know that yourself."

"But you said you wanted to be alone with me. Just you and me? As planned?"

"Troy... We don't have any options."

"But we're not going. I decided so."

"Why are you deciding everything?"

"Because I'm not going to go with him, and I won't let you go."

"You're wrong. We don't have any plan. We can't live here."

"Others live somehow."

"Rather, they survive."

"But still "survive"."

"Yes, men are guarding the fence without rest, and women are selling their bodies. Do you want to live like this?"

"Don't exaggerate. You go help in the infirmary, and I'll get a job in the militia. For sure, everything is here, just like everywhere else."

"Troy, no! We're not staying here. We're going!" I raised my voice.

"We're not going anywhere! Do you understand me?"

"Well, stay here! And I'll go!"

"You're not going without me. You're mine. I'm not letting you go with that asshole!" shouted Otto.

Unexpectedly for myself, I slapped him in the face. Troy was silent for a while. His breathing became aggressive. Suddenly he turned me around with my back to him, then grabbed me by the neck with one hand, and with the other he began to wind my hair around his fist, then pulled me by them to him and growled in my ear:

"Do you think I don't remember your sister's words? About how you choose men? Or maybe you think I didn't notice this Robert's gaze when he was looking at you? Have you decided that he is a good option?"

"Troy, please calm down," I whispered.

"I am calm. But I'm not going to let you just go to him. Have you decided that he is stronger? That he can take responsibility for you?"

"What are you talking about?!"

"I saw his look. I know what he's already done to you in his head. And I know that I'm not competing with him now, because I've lost everything I had. But I won't lose you. You will stay with me, do you understand me?"

I nodded. He released me, turned me around and hugged me again. My face was pressed against his chest. He started stroking my head with one hand, as if nothing had happened. I was so hurt by his words. I wanted to cry. How could he think of such a thing? I left the ranch, my family, and went nowhere for him...

"You're wrong, Troy."

"I hope so."

I was about to leave, but Troy wouldn't let me go. Instead, he turned on the water again and put the shower hose on the top of the mount. Turning me to the wall, he spread my legs with his legs and started kissing me.

"I don't want to, stop it, Troy!" I tried to pull away.

"Don't lie," he ran his fingers between my legs, "you're wet, and it's clearly not because of the shower."
