Chapter 14
Pillow Talk
They were snuggled under the folds. Marty inched closer so he could hug her more from the back. Gusto niya rin kasing yakapin si Ambee and she doesn't like their bee plushie getting squeezed in between them so she settled for a back hug instead.
Besides, it's comfortable and she finds it really sweet especially when Harley kisses her hair.
"Bee, tulog ka na?" she asked.
"Hindi pa, bakit?"
"Sorry pala . . ." she muttered, almost inaudible.
"Hmm?
"Ah . . . 'yon pala." He pulled her closer, inhaling deep. Marty smiled when his warmth gradually spread all over her. It felt so comforting especially when it was also chilly inside her room.
"Okay lang, bee."
"Talaga? Promise?"
She felt him nod. "Oo. Promise."
He chuckled. "Okay. Promise."
Marty gently shifted her position so she could hug him back.
There was a faint smile lingering on his lips when she looked at him.
"Pero paano kapag bigla kang napagod?" she asked.
"Wala . . . naisip ko lang."
He seemed skeptic with her question. Napasinghal na lang si Marty.
Dapat ba 'di ko tinanong? she thought. But it was too late. She already asked even before her mind could process whether it was okay for her to ask that question or not.
But then, he pulled her closer and the creasing on his forehead was gone. "Late ka na."
"Anong late?"
"Gano'n?"
He smiled, nodding. "Oo, gano'n."
"Promise?" pahabol ni Marty.
"Promise.
Kaya nga may annulment and divorce, e," she argued. But the thought of it also stirred something in her stomach.
"Okay. Pero promise pa rin. Dito lang ako," he said, dipping his nose on her hair for a whiff of her scent. Marty felt the upward curling of his lips when he filled his nose with her scent that was then followed by a soft brushing of his lips on on her forehead.
She instantly felt a certain kind of ease. "Talaga? Totoo 'yan, ha? Hindi mo kami iiwanan ni beebie?"
"Opo. Hindi."
