CHAPTER 14: Awkward Clumsiness

*****Nerrisa's POV*****

During the ride to Vornee's place, I was too preoccupied to engage in a conversation with him. I just kept thinking....

I've known Kai Ford before?

It's crazy if you ask me because I sure as hell don't know why my whole body and mind felt so comfortable with the kiss.

Like it's something we've done before.

Like it's something WE'VE BEEN DOING before.

I spent the next minutes trying to put two and two together but it felt like the more I put two to the two I already had, the more I removed from the two I didn't even have but pretended I had in the first place which makes the whole thing even more confusing.

Who really is Kai Ford? How does he know Parthenope? Where did he hear the name from in the first place?

Why was I --, NO! Why was Parthenope kissing him in that flashback?

The car coming to a halt pulled me out of my reverie and I nodded weakly at Vornee mouthing "thanks".

We got in and met Delmar there.

Tell me you're fucking joking universe!!
I groaned inwardly.

Seeing my wet hair and shabbily dressed body he ran up to the room and got a hair dryer.

Aww so sweet.

He sat me down and dried my hair, scolding Vornee for risking me catching a cold while I just sat there distant and staring into nothingness.

After a hot bath (which I never knew I needed, because I never actually tried one) , a cup of hot chocolate and a change of clothes, Delmar announced he was leaving for the grocery store.

Which was a lie by the way, I know he just wanted to give us space.

When he left, Vornee sat opposite me and asked the question I know has been on the tip of his tongue.

What happened Nerrisa?

Him calling me Nerrisa shows how interested he is about my yet-to-come reply.

Taking a deep breath to push every other thought away, I replied.

He almost died by drowning.

Garvornee Les fucking Kimberly looked unbothered as he responded, "yeah I figured", while picking his finger nails.

Rephrasing his question, he said again "what happened to YOU Riss"?
Why are you frozen? Why are you so shaken up?

Most importantly, why do you look like you saw a ghost?

And at that moment I realized I didn't fully know either.

So I just said the first lie that came to mind,

"My mind was playing games Vornee, I was frozen because I remembered what happened to me several weeks back, I couldn't help but imagine how the world would've reacted if they had found out that the trainee of a swimmer who almost drowned, died by drowning.

And I just couldn't help but see myself instead of him drowning, it kinda reminded me of that day.

After saying it, I realized that it was also the truth.

"It's okay, I understand you", he said.

"Do you wanna do or watch anything while you wait for Naida"? He asked.

I'll just take a lil nap but thanks, I replied.

"Okay then, I'll be in my room if you need me". He said walking away.
