The setting of an orphan child error was competitive... Fighting for worth, it was nobody's fault.
It's a competition and the most promising sets of value are the ones who get adopted.
The life of an abandoned child living in a compartment orphanage, struggling to make paid dues, to everyone dying to leave.
Two showers a week and mostly one meal a day.
Ayumi Sora knew that better than anyone but she had a bizarre plan.
Ayumi wasn't an intellectual intelligence genius or a superpower esper. She even had burdens of dead weights that generally did her no good. However she had one talent, she had an incredible power of "common sense".
While children her age had a vivid imagination, and a pure narrow minded mindset. Ayumi Sora had a bizarre clear observational logical sense.
When her peers spoke purely cruel without a second thought, Ayumi carefully spoke cautiously. When they weren't concerned for their surroundings and chaotically broke something of value, Ayumi would be the one to plan to properly play pacific games outdoors and indoors.
She was also wise enough to play both sides.
Example; while her peers would do something that could theoretically pose trouble in the future for themselves, Ayumi would cautiously warn them not to continue their acts. But wouldn't press the subject enough to get her point across. As an orphan she would allow her fellow peers to trouble themselves, but state she at least warn them. (It was the act of saying welp I tried.) So her chances of getting adopted is more likely than the troublesome child but also played the game to act as if she supported that same troublesome child.
It was the innocent devilish perception of being a child but dangerously known exactly that. The terrifying "common sense," of Ayumi Sora.
Note: "Not an actual ~ superpower ~
("This was the plan.") Ayumi internally calculated. ("This is my first day at the new orphanage, so I must fulfill the following conditions; 1 gain the landlord's favor, 2 gain my new housemates support, 3 gain a superiority prioritizing favor while keeping all my competitive opponents down a peg.")
"Ummm... We're here already." Kyung Mi notified Ayumi cautiously.
"Oh!! I apologize! I sort of dazed off." Ayumi quickly improved her attentiveness, while unbuttoning her own seatbelt.
"Understandable, after all it was a long ride." Kyung Mi expresses with a slight sigh.
Once the two of them stepped out of the Honda Fit, Ayumi's eyes nervously surveyed the soulless quiet square building ahead.
Perspiration began to break into Ayumi's face. Her anxieties once again tried to possess her. She squeezed the flippers of her dolphin hat tightly, taking three deep breaths.
"Do you need a second?" Kyung Mi fretted, taking a kneeling position to attend to the orphan.
This intense emotion wasn't exclusive to Ayumi, it was just the genuine overwhelming structure of being brought to a facility such as the Agency Education Department in Academy City.
"I heard Asunaro Park looks a lot more friendly." Ayumi commented, avoiding eye contact with the building.
"Sorry to disappoint you kid but you gotta take what you can get. Adults don't like spoiled rotten brats." Kyung Mi shrugs with a shallow expression.
"Right! Sorry!!"
"That's more like it."
♦
Ayumi surveyed the shoddy large facility while Kyung Mi expressed casually the building's wearabouts.
"(1); for the time being, you'll be taking care and supervision by me here. You will sleep, eat, bathe, and learn here. Hallway (B) is where the main homeroom is. The main homeroom is where you'll study and be taught in this classroom. Hallway (C) is where you'll eat at the cafeteria. Outside is where you'll have time for exercises, recess, and time to see if you develop or can improve upon your esper ability. (A) is where you'll sleep or come to my office room where you'll have meetings with particular guests, usually that would be for adoption purposes. I know it's quite small but we can manage, we always do.
(2); "Maintain decent behavior and follow the regiment.
(3); "Question?" Kyung Mi stopped herself mid-sentence with a cross eye daunting stare. She hands Ayumi a pamphlet while taking a step back. "Are you an esper?"
