The forgotten memory

Using the Obliviate charm was the practise that both y/n and Talbott had decided to undertake. As they prepared to practise the memory charm, Talbott challenged her to share an interesting secret before obliviating him. "If you're just going to erase my memory of it, you might as well tell me an interesting secret, Y/N."

"Then this might be a good opportunity to tell you that... I think I like you, Talbott," Y/N confessed shyly as her face reddened. She did like him, but not that much. Really.

"Oh my!" Professor Flitwick gasped in shock at this unexpected revelation, his eyes widening in surprise. Talbott, equally surprised, stammered his face, also reddening. "Wh-what? Are you serious? Why? I mean, err..." He blushed. "Thank you?" was the last thing he said as an awkward silence permitted for awhile.

"This probably wasn't the right time," she said, crestfallen, embarrassed, and sad. Taking pity for her, Professor Flitwick cleared his throat and interjected, "Ahem, perhaps now would be a good time to try casting Obliviate..."

"O-oh... All right, here goes nothing," Y/N said as she pointed her wand at Talbott, who had gone stiff and unmoving from the revelation. "Obliviate!"

"What do you remember, Talbott?" she asked apprehensively.

"I remember you choosing to practise Obliviate on me, then... nothing," he replied, not realising the relief that washed over her and the small smile on Professor Flitwick's face. She couldn't help but express her joy. "It worked!" She exclaimed, her happiness evident.

Professor Flitwick praised her efforts. "Well done, Miss [Y/L/N]. You're making excellent progress."

Talbott looked at her curiously. "What did you tell me?"

Y/N hesitated for a moment before replying with a shake of her head. "Huh? Oh, yeah... I'll tell you later," she said with a mischievous smile.

"I'm going to hold you to that," he said.

"Thank you so much, Professor Flitwick, for teaching us." she said, smiling in appreciation. Then both of them left the classroom, their expressions excited to put their newly learned charm to the test by erasing Merula's memories about their secret.

Meeting in the courtyard at night, Talbott and Y/N crouched behind one of the statues by the fountain, speaking quietly as they awaited Merula's arrival.

"Did you manage to send Merula here?" Y/N asked, curious about the plan Talbott had devised to lure Merula out.

"Yes, I had the school owl deliver her a note from Professor Snape I wrote in his handwriting asking to meet her here," Talbott replied, surprising Y/N with his ability to forge handwriting. She was increasingly fascinated by his hidden talents and quirks.

"Merula should be here any minute," he continued, and then Y/N couldn't help but ask, "By the way, can you really forge Snape's handwriting? Is Snape's handwriting the only one you've forge, or is there someone else?"

"No. I haven't had any reason to forge other people's handwriting."

Y/N could only nod in silence to his response.

"Do you have an owl?" she asked.

"No." he answered.

"Then how come you were able to make an owl take the letter to Merula?" she asked curiously.

Talbott then explained that he spent a lot of time in the owlery because it was quiet, and owls don't judge. He shared that he sometimes joined them in his eagle form, revealing that he had a close bond with the owls because of his Animagus.
