Learning to Dance Chap.7

Neuvillette found himself busy once more the next few days as usual but he'd promised when It was over to begin your dance lessons, In which you were very excited but also nervous about but Neuvillette assured you that all would be fine and that you'd get the steps quicker than you thought. you honestly didn't feel worthy to work for such a kind and selfless man such as him as he was always doing something for you, you wanted to perhaps repay him for all his kindness somehow but It would take you far longer to realize what he'd needed the most in the world.

It was In the afternoon, Neuvillette had returned back to Palais Mermonia as he'd finally gotten time for leisure but instead of taking It for himself he'd begin your lessons right away. But first he went to find you so he went to your living quarters but he'd knocked a few times  

"(Y/n), (Y/n) are you here?"

just as you came down the hallway to see Neuvillette outside of your bedroom door, 

you smiled and went over to him, "Welcome home Sir"

he turned, a smile coming "Thank you, I was looking for you just now I'd like to talk with you"

"Alright"

Neuvillette then gestured, "Shall we go to my office"

you nodded and then followed him as you soon went to his office, and upon arriving you saw something on his desk across the room It was one of the recently invented record players In Fontaine, only those with considerable amounts of wealth could think to buy one

"Is that...It's a record player?"

Neuvillette smiled, "Yes, and I wanted you to see this as well as tell you why It's here"

he walked over to his desk as he then placed the pin down, and soon the air began to fill with the sounds of beautiful music which took you by surprise as he then gestured you to come closer

"Now, Well will begin your dance lessons" he said

you smiled, "Really? oh thank you"

Neuvillette smiled with a nod towards you, he then extended his hand to you and you placed yours in his as you then came close together. he placed your hand onto his shoulder and his own free arm around your waist as you felt a warmth come to your cheek's at how close you were 

"I will lead"

and with that he took a step forward with you stepping back, he then instructed you on the steps to do next all the while you looked down at your feet with a anxious expression on your face

Neuvillette started, "(Y/n), look at me would you?"

you lifted your face to look him in the eyes, just as you saw a gentle smile on his face 

"As I've told you before all will be fine, Practice makes perfect as they say"

you started to relax, "Yes"

he then spun you around swiftly, before bringing you back to him as you resumed your previous position but then you accidentally stepped on his foot, "I'm so sorry!"

"It's alright, you may step on my foot as many times as you need to" he said

you blushed, "Oh I couldn't possibly...I'm sorry,"

Neuvillette released your hand, just as he started thinking on what he could do to help you more

"How about a break? there was something I needed to tell you, I hope you'll forgive me...but Lady Furina's Masquerade has another meaning behind It"

you gave him your attention, "Hm?"

Neuvillette started, "How shall I say this, Lady Furina wishes to test you and see if you were adequate enough to be around her just as I am"

you were surprised, "Pardon?"

"I am sorry I told her not to do so, but she is Insistent on testing your abilities in a high society situation"

you balled up your hands in your dress, "I understand"

Neuvillette let out a sigh, "I don't want you to be uncomfortable, if you truly don't wish to go to the Masquerade don't force yourself"

you took in a breath, then facing him "I will go"

"Are you sure?"

you put your hand's together, "Yes, If Lady Furina wishes to test me by this it means that she wishes to know if I'm truly capable as your aid...I've doubted myself a lot but now, I don't wish you to be put In a difficult position because of me so...I will go"

Neuvillette was taken aback, his ears became red "I see...very good, then It's settled"

you then smiled, "Besides, I've never been to a Masquerade before...It's honoring the late Hydro Archon, also as you want me to be your escort how could I say no?"

Neuvillette returned the smile, "Very well, shall we continue the lesson"

"Yes!"

for the next three hours you practiced with Neuvillette and reviewed what you learned, but he soon told you to get some rest and have some dinner so you did but afterwards you went to practice by yourself In your bedroom. and for the next few weeks leading up to the next month you continued to progress and get better as you now had a better sense of the rhythm, able to keep up with Neuvillette and by muscle memory you were able to dance better than before

"My Lord I did it!"

Neuvillette smiled, "Well done,"

you smiled up at him but then leapt forward to hug him like before, and he chuckled to himself as he brought his arms around you not so awkwardly like last time.
