The Next Morning....

You started to rouse awake as you then remembered all that happened last night, you brought your hand up to touch your still tender cheek that stung, you then let out a sigh as you then started to remember that you were In Neuvillette's room and also slept In his bed 

"He wanted me to feel safe...."

you turned over as a smile started coming to your face, just as there was a knock on the door which made you sit up as you addressed whoever was outside the door to come inside

the door opened, with Neuvillette alongside Sedene, who heard what happened and was worried about you ever since but she was standing a little bit behind Neuvillette 

he smiled and touched her head, "Go on, say what you wished to say"

Sedene walked over to your bedside, "I'm sorry you got hurt last night, I hope you'll get better soon"

you smiled, "thank you Sedene,"

she then turned to walk away, "just my duty have a good day, and be careful"

Sedene left the room as she closed the door behind her, which made Neuvillette explain that she was rather embarrassed but was concerned about you after hearing what happened. The other Melusine's were worried about you as well but he told them that you were just fine afterwards, some of them even got together and made you a get well card which you thought was sweet

you looked at the card, reading It "Oh, how thoughtful, they're so sweet"

Neuvillette smiled, "Indeed"

he walked over to sit on your bedside, "did you sleep well?"

you nodded, "yes, I thought I'd be too disturbed to sleep but...I was very calm"

"Glad to hear it, If you'd like you can rest a little longer If you want...I can give you the day off today or even a few days if you wish"

you started, "Oh no, It's alright I'm sure I'll be fine after today...please don't worry"

Neuvillette nodded, "Very well, I should tell you that the assailants were taken to the fortress of meropide and Interrogated by the duke himself, trouble is...they didn't reveal who sent them but I'm sure this was targeted towards you being connected with me"

Neuvillette was surprised and thought It silly but also very endearing, "I like It"

his ears were red once again, but then he lightly caressed your cheek "Is it still swollen"

you nodded, "Mhm"

"What kind of man would do this to a woman, It's abhorrent" 

you rested your head on his shoulder, "I've never been struck before...it hurt terribly"

Neuvillette rubbed your back, "I will see that those who did this will be punished within the court of law, and...I'll send the Marechaussee Phantom to Investigate further"

"I understand"

just then your stomach rumbled, and Neuvillette smiled, "It is morning after all, I'll go see that breakfast is brought for you"

you smiled, "Thank you"

just as Neuvillette was going to release you from his arms, he couldn't help but feel an urge that was quite powerful not to mention bold which was a first for him. Neuvillette leaned forward and pressed a kiss to your injured cheek, which left you stunned as butterflies filled your stomach and a blush bloomed across your face as he then abruptly took his leave 

"I'll return shortly" 

you placed a hand to where he kissed you, "alright...."

your heart started to beat quickly *Goodness...what was that? Neuvillette you...*

a light feeling came to your chest, and you also felt giddy like a child who'd received a gift.
