"I'm getting this staff!" Kirby responded, trying to get the staff loose.
Bandana Dee began flailing his arms "Kirby! Don't you know how these types of scenarios go?! Usually treasures that are attached to a monument or a pedestal are rigged with a booby trap, or a curse, or both, or worse!"
Adeleine suppressed a laugh, and patted Bandana Dee on the head to calm him down. "I think it'll be alright Bandana." she said reassuringly "Despite my low knowledge of plants, I don't think someone could rig a trap onto one. And even if it was cursed, Kirby has a habit of overcoming that kind of stuff. Meaning there's a high chance it'll be fine."
Bandana Dee anxiously thumped his foot a few times. "Okay, but if this forest ends up exploding, don't say I didn't warn you!"
Kirby giggled, then resumed his task. Slowly and carefully, he was able to remove the staff from the grip of the vines, and was now holding onto it.
Now that it was in his hands, Kirby inspected the staff even closer. He didn't notice any new details close up, but now that he was holding it, he could feel its power. It felt very powerful, but very faint and dwindling at the same time. And was it just him, or did it feel like... something was resting within it?
The vines, now that the contents of what they were holding had been taken, changed position and curled up.
Gently holding the staff, Kirby nimbly went down the plant monument and walked back to his friends.
Bandana had taken a nervous position that looked like he was ready to duck and cover in case something happened. But after seeing Kirby walk up, staff in tow, his position went back to normal. "Huh, I guess it did end up being fine." he remarked.
"See, I told you it would be." Adeleine said with a wink.
Kirby held out the staff for his friends to get a closer look at it, whilst he was still looking at it with great intrigue.
"Hey, it's kinda paintbrush shaped." Adeleine commented "Can I take a look at it?"
"Of course!" Kirby agreed, handing the staff to Adeleine.
Adeleine examined it closely, and put her hand on the top part of the staff. "Hm, well to me it does resemble one, but it's definitely not a paintbrush. If it was, this part would have been made of hair, but it seems to be made of wood like the rest of it, so maybe it's just a wand modeled to look like a paintbrush."
"That could be the case!" said Kirby, taking the staff back from Adeleine. He could easily see her perspective on the staff, as while it was vastly different, it did sort of remind him of a certain magical paintbrush, not too much though.
One thing Kirby appreciated about the design of the wand/staff, was the star shaped crystal it had. Though it was no Warpstar, it was nice having something star shaped around again.
After studying it some more for a moment, Bandana Dee spoke up. "What do you think it does?"
"I don't know..." said Kirby "I can feel an immense amount of power from it, but it's... faint and dormant, and it doesn't seem to respond to me."
"Hm..." said Adeleine, handing the staff back to Kirby "Maybe it's one of those things that only lets a specific person wield it?"
"I was thinking that! It might be like Meta Knight's sword, where unless the situation requires it, only Meta Knight can use its power." Kirby inspected the staff once more, looking closely at the star shaped crystalline part "I wonder who it belongs to..."
Adeleine stood up straight and took a breath. "Well at the very least, it might come in handy. Who knows, maybe you'll figure out a way to get it to work for you."
