CHAPTER 36: LETTER

"Aha! Found you!" Agad kong niyakap yung letter ni Kuya Ice noon kay Ate Amy nung nakita ko ito, buti nalang at naitago ko ang letter. Ito nalang kasi ang tanging pag-asa para magka-ayos si Ate Amy at Kuya.

Sana..

Pero kasi naman! I think it's really my fault. Ang bobita ko kasi sa part na yung brochure ang naibigay ko instead the letter.

Argh, ngayon naman ang problema ko ay kung paano ko ito maiaabot kay Kuya Ice. Baka kasi sakalin ako nun kapag nakita ako since sakin niya ipinagkatiwala ang letter na ito pero hindi ko man lang naayos ang bilin niya.

So fool, Shimmer!

At kung kay Ate Amy naman...

FLASHBACK

I was shock to see Miss Millens falls at the mini stage, but I'm more shocked to see Ate Amy and Kuya Ice there. What happened?

I hear commotions everywhere, sinasabi nila na itinulak daw ng maid si Miss Millens. My eyebrows narrowed. No way! Ate Amy can't do that kaya!

I'm pretty sure na si Miss Millens ang nag-initiate ng away, knowing her malditaness. Grr! But I'm more concerned to Ate Amy, she ran away. Kuya called her but she didn't look back. Dali-dali akong tumayo at tumakbo sa direction na pinuntahan niya. But I don't get the chance to go near her when I heard Kuya John's voice. Mabilis pa sa alas kwatro akong nagtago sa likod ng malaking flower vase.

Then I heard the last thing I want to hear...Ate Amy is..leaving..

I was so shocked that John didn't contradict her and didn't try to stop her instead..he wholefully agreed. He holds her wrist and they walk together, nagtago ako lalo nang dumaan sila sa side ko, sinundan ko sila ng tingin hanggang mawala sila sa paningin ko.

I let out a sigh.

But to my surprise, when I raise my head, I saw Devon from the other side. He's holding a picture frame if I'm not mistaken. He looks so sad. I think he also heard the conversation. After a few moments, he placed the frame inside a paper bag, aalis na sana siya but our eyes met.

Napatayo ako dahan-dahan. "Dev.." I called his name.

He sigh before he walk towards me. "You heard it right?"

I nod as an answer. "A-ano nang gagawin natin?"

"Natin?" he asked confusely. "As for me, I don't have to do anything. But to your case,"

"You need to be responsible for your mistake four years ago."

my eyebrows narrowed. "What do you mean?"

"Remember the letter? Find that. Then give it to whom you think it is needed to be." He seriously said then he left me here.

Napaisip ako sa mga sinabi ni Devon. I..I think so too..

And that's the very reason kung bakit ako ngayon nagkalat sa buong kwarto ko to find this letter. Tinamaan ako ng malala sa mga words ni Devon last night. I feel so dumb for not thinking this sooner. At kailangan na may magpa-realize pa sakin ng mga bagay na obvious naman na dapat gawin.

But kanino nga?

Argh!!!

Kay John!

Right, I should give this letter to John. I know he'll be responsible for this. And there's a big chance that this letter would reach either Kuya Ice or Ate Amy because he's the only person who has connection to the both of them.

Hindi na ako nag-aksaya pa ng oras, I texted him that I want to meet him for an urgent matter about Kuya and Ate, because if I don't, he'll just think na nagpapansin lang ako sa kaniya.

"So, what is the thing so urgent na kailangan nating mag-meet up dito sa isang fancy restaurant exclusively for couples?"

"Aish! Don't think anything else. Plot ko lang ito para hindi tayo ma-expose."

"What?"

"Ah basta! We need this okay?"

"Sure. Sabi mo 'e."

"Ugh, believe me!"

"What? Am I complaining?"

"No but.." I let out a sigh. "Let's get straight to the point."

"Here." Inilabas ko yung letter and I slide it at the table to him. "That's the letter that I supposedly needed to hand to ate Amy but I accidentally hand her out a brochure thinking that it's the letter."

"T-the letter..."

"I want to give this to your care because I believe that you can decide more accurately about this."

"Please accept this responsibility, John!" I bowed my head with eyes closed. Hoping that he will accept the letter but..

"Sorry, Shimmer." Nagtaas ako ng tingin, he's looking at the letter with sorrow in his eyes which I don't understand. Then he slide it back to me. Napatingin ako sa letter. What in the earth...

"I..I just can't. Sorry." Then he stood up kaya naalarma ako. Wait, is he leaving already?

I grab his shirt with my index finger and thumb kaya napahinto siya sa pag-lakad nang makarating siya sa tapat ko. I'm just looking at the letter while he's standing by my side facing the other way.

"I feel really bad for not giving this letter to Ate Amy four years ago correctly. And I'm really hoping na kapag nabasa niya ang laman nito, she'll realize and understand my Kuya's side." Tears start to fall out my eyes. "Even if there's only 1 percent chance, I'll take that risk to bring back her smile again."

I look at him with sincerity and eagerness. "Isn't that what you want from the very first? To see her smile again?"

"How did you--"

"You may not know but I can see through your eyes, John. Your eye tells it all."

I heard him sigh deeply. Tinanggal ko ang pagkakahawak ko sa shirt niya at pinunasan ang luha ko. Humarap siya sakin. "Fine."

Did I hear it right? Did he just.. agreed?

Kinuha niya yung letter sa table habang sinusundan ko siya ng tingin. Tumayo ako para makaharap siya ng maayos. I smile to him. "Thank you, John. This means a lot to me."

"Just..just please pray that this letter will be the answer to everything." I nod gently. "If you'll excuse.."

Then he left.

Sinundan ko pa siya ng tingin hanggang nakalabas siya sa loob nitong restaurant. Nang mawala siya sa paningin ko ay napaupo ako sa upuan, para akong nabunutan ng tinik at nakahinga ng maluwag.
