~ Queendom: Round 3 ~

Soojin's POV 🦋💙

"Ok guys, we need to decide what song to perform for our next round: Fandora's Box." Soyeon said as she glanced around the meeting table at us.

It's been a few weeks since Queendom officially started and we've already been through several rounds of competition. Despite our outstanding start, the following few rounds have been rough. It would seem that our first performance have raised the standards for the other groups as they prepared significantly better for their subsequent performances.

For Round 2, we had to cover a song belonging to one of the other participants and we chose to cover 2NE1's 'Fire'. Although we put in our best efforts to remix and perform the song, it was too iconic in itself and we failed to "make it our own", thus we unfortunately placed last for that round.

Round 3 was split into 2 parts and the first part required each group to send out their representative main vocal and main dancer to perform with those from the other groups, and their individual ranking would contribute to the score of the entire group. Minnie was our representative main vocal due to her unique dreamy vocals and she partnered with AOA's Hyejeong to perform a ballad. And of course, I'm our representative main dancer. I was a little reluctant after knowing I had to spend long hours practicing with the senior dancers without any of my group members, but I had no choice. When I first met the others, I was intimidated being the youngest there, yet I had to fight for better parts of the group dance. However, everyone was really friendly and welcoming, and they cheered me on when I showcased what I prepared! Even though I was really shy, they always involved me in conversations and freely shared tips and tricks to improve the performance as a whole. We didn't spend too much time together, but we all became closer and I made many new dancer friends!

It was definitely exciting to perform with idols from different groups on stage and we did our best to gain as many points as possible for our group. Although Minnie and Hyejeong sang their ballad beautifully, it did not do as well as expected. Luckily, my sexy performance of 'Senorita' together with the group dance did better and I placed 3rd. Overall, the group ranking averaged at 4th, which was lower than desired if we actually wanted to have a shot at winning. This is why Soyeon has gathered us in the meeting room now to decide on the next performance.

"I've been wanting to perform something horror-themed," Soyeon continued. "And I think that our b-side 'Put it Straight' would be perfect to remix into a horror version."

"Ooh! That's interesting!"
"That's so cool! I'm down for it!"
"Me too I love the idea!"

Most of us were in agreement with Soyeon's idea, but someone else at the table hasn't spoke up.

"Uh Yuqi, are you ok with performing 'Put it Straight'?" Soyeon has also noticed the awkward silence coming from the noisiest member.

"Uhmm unnie... it's just that I think it's not our most popular song. No one else except Neverlands knows about it, and it's also not an exciting song..." Yuqi hesitantly spoke up.

"That's a fair point..." Soyeon replied, deep in thought.

Hmm... yes Yuqi has made a good point this time and her worries were definitely relevant. The next round's score would be important for our final ranking and there would also be special guests invited by the previous winners so we wouldn't know what kind of song they would prefer. Performing a b-side track to non-fans would be a gamble; they could either love it or ignore it. Looking at Soyeon's face though, I could tell she really wants to perform it and has already thought of the entire horror concept to go with it.
