Soojin's POV 🦋💙

"Wait what?! We are going on a survival show?"

"This came out of nowhere!"

"Do we really stand a chance against the other senior idols??"

The whole living room was in chaos as Soyeon relayed the CEO's message to us. Apparently, Mnet is set to release a brand new survival show for established Kpop idols who are currently trending. So far the cast list included famous groups such as AOA and Mamamoo, and even soloist Park Bom! I felt like we were no match against them given that we only debut 1 year ago...

"Hey guys, I know survival shows seem really scary, but let's take it as an opportunity to learn and grow!" Soyeon tried to calm us down.

"I don't think I can do well though... You know I'm really shy in front of cameras and this survival show will literally be filming our every move and reaction!" I couldn't help but shudder at the thought of all the big cameras pointing at me. I don't really outwardly express my emotions or react loudly. What if the filming crew use this against me and edit my clips in a negative way?

"You know I'm shy too, right Soojin? But I've already been on 2 survival shows and they turned out really fun! You are genuinely such a nice person, there's no way they can evil edit you, so just be yourself," Soyeon replied as she squeezed my arm reassuringly. "Besides, you won't be alone. We are all going to be together on the show, that is if you guys are all agreeable..." she said as she looked around at the rest of the girls.

Yuqi met Soyeon's eyes and I saw a glint of excitement in her eyes. "You know I never back away from a challenge right unnie? If Soyeon can do it, I can too!"

"It would be a great opportunity to make friends with other idols too!" Miyeon added and Minnie nodded at that. Of course the extroverts would be fine with this.

Looking at Shuhua who hasn't said anything yet, I saw that she was looking down at her feet, seemingly uncertain about participating in the show too. She has her own worries, I can tell. Although Shuhua hasn't told me, I know that the criticism about her Korean pronunciation that day greatly affected her confidence. Since then, Shuhua refused to take on more lines and only chose those which were easy to pronounce, not knowing that Soyeon deliberately wrote some parts easier in hopes that she would pick them. She was also not confident about her dancing despite doing rather well during practices. Despite how hard Shuhua tried to hide it, I always caught her watching in awe at how Soyeon or I danced from the reflection of the mirror, and then she would stay back afterwards to practice dancing alone. Finally, Shuhua looked up and locked gazes with me.

"If Soojin unnie is going, then I'm going with her too."

Ah... Now it's on me...

"Trust me Soojin ah, it'll be fine. I know you're really shy offstage, but once you're on stage, you're insane! Remember your 'Hot Issue' fancam? Just think of it as a chance for us to show off what we've got while making new friends along the way! No matter what happens, the 6 of us will work through it together always." Soyeon must've noticed my uncertainty still as she continued to persuade me.

To be fair, this survival show would give us an opportunity to gain more exposure which is beneficial for any idol. Not only could we get more support from existing fans, we could also gain new fans from the general public or those of other groups. Also, making connections with the bigger senior idols would be helpful to our career.

I looked at Soyeon as I contemplated my decision. This small girl has been competing in renowned survival shows since she was 17. Despite her young age on these shows, she never once gave up and continued to prove her talents all by herself. If Soyeon can do it alone, why can't I do it with our whole group?
