Chloe’s POV

“You need to trust me. Your friends aren’t the people you think they are!”

“But I trust them! And I believe that they trust me!”

“I don’t even know if they are the ones that you can build trust to.”

Kagami and I are arguing with Dupain-Cheng about her fake friends. I know that she has fake friends, with some exceptions.

Heck! I even have a list of reasons why I think they are fake.

Reason number one.

They are demanding her stuff, even though they don’t pay her for all of them. Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.

People pay for stuff at the shops, why won’t they pay for Mari’s hard work?

Reason number two.

They have been avoiding Mari lately when it comes to hangouts.
The only way she is with them is because some people do invite her.

At least these idiots aren’t that much of idiots like others.

Reason number three.

They are talking about her behind her back.

Those jerks are talking about her behind her back! I even heard how one of them said that she’s a naive brat!

I sometimes insult her, but others insult her even worse than I ever did?

Hell nah.

So, when I told Kagami about it, she got armed and ready to kill those brats in the most torturous way possible.
I stopped her though unfortunately so we both let Mari know about the current situation.

Screw the fact that we separated a long time ago. She needs to know.

“I don’t want to think that way though.” She is looking like she wants to cry but not here.

“Dupa- Marinette. You need to understand that I, I mean we, want to help you. I am sorry about this. It is hard to believe this, but I know how to prove this fact to you.”

“H-how can y-you prove this.” Some tears have escaped from her eyes. Great, her makeup is ruined! I need to fix her makeup later.

“By adding the sneakiest fox to the class…” We turned around to see our friend, who left Paris a long time ago, here in Mari’s room. “I missed you, guys.”

Mari wiped off her tears and her ruined makeup. She looks better, I admit.

“Oh, ma gawd,! IT’S ACTUALLY YOU!” Mari hugged her with Kagami and me joining in. “It is good to see you again!”

“Yeah, me too.” She has strange-looking hair. I did not expect her to grow her hair very long within those 3 years.

“What are you doing here anyway?” Kagami stopped hugging after she realized that.

“I moved back to Paris, with my mum, near the place where my auntie and my uncle are staying, as my mum found a great job that pays well.”

“That is fantastic! And you came to surprise us?” Mari isn’t as sad as a few minutes before.

This ridiculous conversation about her so-called friends though isn’t over yet.

“Only you. Kagami and Chloe already knew about it.” She glared at us for not telling her.

“I am happy though that you are here! Let’s celebrate!” Mari was about to run, but I stopped her.

“Marinette. About the talk earlier…”

“Do we really have to talk about it now?” Her smile drastically changed to a frown.

“Yes.” I gave her my glare. “I know that they aren’t with you because of you. You are the kindest person I ever met, and they are using that to their advantage.”

“And this is why I came back and will be joining your class, Mari-bug.” she placed her hand on Mari’s shoulder to comfort her.

We will see if they will put you over the new shiny object because of my so-called contacts and kindness. It is better to check out Chloe’s theory.”

“If they will leave you, they aren’t worth being your friend. If they stay, they are your true friends.” Others have agreed with what I said.

At least others are agreeing to check out for themselves what is going on.

It will spare my time convincing them.

I saw Mari thinking about it. I don’t think Dupain-Cheng is convinced to do this friendship test. I won’t stop trying to convince her, even if…

“Okay.” We all looked at her. She smiled. “Let’s test it out.”

I guess I misjudged her.

“Great! Just so you know, we are all behaving the same. However, you don’t know me, and Mari hates me for noticing me lying and seeing if others are on the same page. I hope this won’t end up bad. Are you with me?”

We all nodded at her plan.

We all stopped when Kagami got a notification on her phone. We saw her smiling at something on her phone.

“Luka?” Mari teased, making Kagami blush a little.

“Maybe?” We all looked at her suspiciously. “Yes, it is him. He asked if I could come over tomorrow. At least my mum approves of him hanging out with me.”

“Like a boyfriend?” Kagami looks redder than Nathaniel’s hair color.

“You guys suit each other a lot,” I admitted. “Better than Mari with Adrien.”

I am shocked that Mari didn’t flinch or fall from that.

“That’s fine, I don’t see Adrien as the love of my life anymore. He is just a friend to me.”

WHAT!?! Dupain-Cheng doesn’t love Adrikens anymore?
What was in the coffee we drank yesterday at school?

“My child has grown up. I am a proud momma-bee.” I pretended to wipe a tear off my face.

“I am not your child, Chloe!”

“You are!”

“NOPE!”

“YEP!”

“NOPE!”

“ENOUGH!!!!!” Kagami screamed, making Mari fall. We all looked at her. “Can we do something else instead of watching you arguing?”

“Okay, little dragon.” Mari and I smirked at that.

“Seriously? Little dragons can harm more than big ones.”

“Little dragons are small!!!”

“Why did I come back?” She face-palmed, making all of us laugh. “I feel like a third wheel here.”

“Don’t feel that way, you can pick a movie to watch. We need to celebrate your arrival anyway by doing a sleepover.”

We all went downstairs to get ready to watch a movie. We decided to turn on ‘Wonder Woman’.
While we are watching, I am mentally getting ready for the school week.

Because we are coming back.
