"I'm fine," I say with a smile,
But I feel empty inside.
Isolation like a vice,
gripping my heart,
Wrapping its way around my soul,
Dragging me into its eternal depths.I stretch my hand out
reaching for a connection,
Unaware of the two-sided mirror
Between me and reality
closing me off
From the people around me.Unbeknownst to them
I am behind that mirror
Watching, listening, screaming–
But no one sees.
No one hears. And so I wait
as the frost of time clouds my view,
for the day that someone comes and breaks
This invisible force between usHolding on to hope
that I will be seen again.
