-Third Person-

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and (Y/n) headed to the Owlery after breakfast on Sunday to send a letter to Percy. They followed Sirius' advice and asked Percy if he had seen Mr. Crouch recently. To send the letter, they used Hedwig, who had not had a job in a long time. After watching Hedwig fly out of sight through the Owlery window, they went to the kitchen to give Dobby his new socks.

As they arrived at the kitchen, the elves warmly welcomed Harry, Ron, Hermione, and (Y/n) with bows, curtseys, and a flurry of tea preparations. (Y/n) couldn't help but marvel at the number of elves bustling about in Hogwarts castle. Though she knew the elves didn't harm humans, their strange appearance still made her feel uneasy. Dobby was overjoyed to receive his present and exclaimed, "Harry Potter is too kind to Dobby!" while wiping large tears from his enormous eyes.

(Y/n) couldn't help but feel delighted at Dobby's reaction. She found the little elf absolutely adorable and couldn't help but imagine showering him with gifts if she had the money.

"You saved my life with that Gillyweed, Dobby, you really did," said Harry. (Y/n) stood nearby, listening intently.

Dobby beamed with pride at Harry's words. "It was my pleasure, Harry Potter, sir."

(Y/n) smiled at Dobby. "You're amazing, Dobby. Thank you for helping, Harry."

"I'm grateful too," added Harry, turning to (Y/n) with a smile.

"No chance of more of those éclairs, is there?" said Ron, his eyes darting around the room of bowing house-elves.

"You've just had breakfast, Ron," Hermione replied, giving him a disapproving look.

"But they're so good," Ron whined.

Suddenly, a platter of éclairs appeared in front of them, carried by four eager elves.

"We should send some food up to Snuffles," Harry suggested.

"Pig needs something to do," Ron added. "Do you think we could ask for a bit of extra food?" he asked the surrounding elves, who eagerly nodded and scurried off to retrieve more.

Hermione surveyed the room and noticed that Winky, one of the house-elves, was missing. "Dobby, where's Winky?" she asked.

Dobby's ears drooped slightly. "Winky is over there by the fire, miss."

"Oh dear," Hermione said, spotting the distressed elf.

As Harry and (Y/n) gazed towards the fireplace, their attention was drawn to the sight of Winky, who sat upon stool. However, she had allowed herself to become so filthy that she blended in with the smoke-blackened brick behind her. Her clothes were tattered and unkempt, and she clutched a bottle of Butterbeer while swaying slightly on her stool, gazing intently into the fire. Suddenly, she let out an enormous hiccough.
