Mason's POV

After hearing her story my blood boiled,"what are you saying? Korey was taken by rogues??" I asked furiously but tried to calm down when she whimpered

"Could be possible,rogues appearing at the time of Korey's disappearance,can't have been a coincidence" Dad muttered away and I just sighed

"Do you remember where you live pup?" Dad asked and my head snapped back to the girl,I hope she remembers because there may be good leads there

"Take me back to where you found me and I may be able to retrace my step" she suggested and I nodded,what a smart and well spoken kid

I watched in hope as she stood in the alleyway looking around and sniffing everywhere,finally she started walking and I quietly followed behind

My dad couldn't leave the pack and his beta couldn't leave him so it was only me and Zane,my dad suggested to give me some pack warriors but I refused,I think Zane and I could handle a few meddling rogues

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I saw the girl walking backwards as if in a daze,I didn't even want to breathe too hard in fear of distracting her

After what felt like hours we arrived in the middle of..hell I don't know where this place is,but there was a small cottage,well what seem to be it's remains after a fire

The little girl broke out in tears staring at the remains of her once happy house, Zane and I just stood there in silence allowing the girl to grieve

"Are you okay?" I asked hoping to come off genuine tho I didn't really care much and just had the thought of my mate clouding my mind, don't get me wrong I emphasize with her but.. I'm just fucked up at the moment

"One day I'm going to be as strong as 'The King' " she said her voice filled with determination, I admired that about her,no doubt she'll one day be strong enough as an omega to maybe even take down an alpha

"That's right kid, use all that anger and sadness and turn it into determination and power" Zane grinned patting her on the head to which she nodded and tried holding back evident tears in her eyes

"Zane you go and check the house out, I'll look around outside for any clues" I ordered and he nodded immediately getting to work

"Can I do something too?" The girl asked, "yeah, you can help me out, by the way, what was your name again?" I smiled as I began to follow a faint scent of rogues

"Tyra" she whispered as she looked around sniffing the air, she's got quite a good sense of smell I noticed

Groaning I took a seat under a large tree "why aren't there any fucking clues?!!" I yelled in frustration

"Can rogues really be that good at hiding their scent and covering their tracks?" Zane sighed shaking his head

"No..they had help from a mage.." Tyra spoke up and my head snapped towards her

"From a what??! And you didn't think to tell us this?!" I yelled and she held her head down in shame and submission

"I wasn't sure it was a mage at first so I didn't bother telling you because,how could a mage be working with rogues right?.." she explained and I shook my head

"Was it only one mage or more?" I asked and she shrugged,"it could be more but I only saw one that day"

"Why would a mage join force with rogues?" Zane muttered as thoughts probably ran through his head

"Is this all because of Korey's awakening?" I asked and Zane snapped his fingers "yes,it can't possibly be a coincidence,we need to go and alert your dad of the possibility of rogues and mages in the area"

Without another word we all got up and made our way back to my dad,on the way I called Korey's mom

"Hey Kathy,I have some news,and we'll need all the help we can get so bring Liam and the other's and meet at my dad's den" I said and she hung up with an okay

"We are going to find him" I muttered feeling this random urge of determination

Korey

"Do you think they can find you?" The hooded man that appears to be the boss around here chuckled I desperately tried to get up and slash at his neck but they chained my hands, neck and legs to the table holding me in place

"I know they will" I spat and he shook his head at me as if I was stupid to even be thinking like this

"Seems like you need another beating to get you to stop thinking like an idiot hmm? With such powers you depend on those lowlife mutts to save you when you can ju-" he sighed but was interupted by someone dressed in the same cloak he's wearing hurrying in to whisper something in his ears

"Don't worry,bear with it for a while, I'm almost finished with healing"  Kiran reassured as a group of men came rushing in,they are the same men who would constantly beat me in the name of 'preparation'

Frantically I started turning and thrusting as tear filled my ears,I was filled with fear and rage, the leader rubbed my cheek with a smile then left leaving me alone in this dark cold room to get beaten

"IF YOU TOUCH ME!" I warned my voice coming out loud and powerful even though I'm so scared to the point I might piss myself

They backed off for a minute seemingly a bit scared then they laughed and began hitting me over and over, my already broken and bruised body couldn't do a thing,I lay there screaming and crying in pain and hopelessness

After what felt like hours I can feel myself losing consciousness,I know they are still beating me but I have become numb to it all

"No no no,no sleeping" I heard a faint voice and as my eyes readjust I see fingers snapping Infront of my face

"Y'know.. you're too weak and pathetic to be graced with such powers" the leader shook his head as he pulled out a needle

I sigh as I turned my head, he's been doing this ever since I got here, taking my blood for god knows what

"Sleep well my choosen one" he soothed as he ran his filthy fingers through my hair and with that I lost consciousness
