The only droid Omega ever interacted with on Kamino was AZI-3, but even then their interactions were always cut short and monitored. AZI-3 was a comforting presence, yet was never able to cross the line into ‘friend territory’ due to him strictly being her medical supervisor, still it was a nice change of pace from the Kaminoans probing.

The Kaminoans liked AZI-3, because he was by the books and followed protocol. They would always mention how he was a ‘proper droid’, subservient, never putting up a fight, following orders no questions asked.

This droid was not like AZI-3 at all.

The second Omega was done talking he started beeping uncontrollably threatening her with a taser. She knew he would use it on her too. Something told her he has done this many times before, and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

“WAIT” Omega shrieked, then immediately covered her mouth with both hands remembering there was an entire army outside. The droid inched closer towards her, causing her to jump up in a panic raising her arms up in surrender.

“Wait, wait, wait,” she spat out frantically in a whispered tone in an effort to hush him “I’m not a stowaway I swear. I’ll explain, but you have to be quiet please .”

Her plea must have resonated with him because he withdrew his taser, but made it obvious he was still suspicious of her.

“Okay so, I’m a clone -”

Upon hearing the ‘clone’ comment the droid immediately beeped, interrupting her explanation.

Omega rolled her eyes at his sarcastic comment “I know I don’t look like a clone, but I am, I’m just … different.”

The blue and white droid made a low noise which she can only assume is the droid version of raising an eyebrow.

“Look I was rescued off of Kamino by my older brothers Fives and Echo, then they brought me to my other brother Rex, who introduced me to my other other brothers Jesse, Hardcase, and Kexx, then I was brought to Anakin - ”

Omega noticed the droid perked up at the mention of the General's name. She slowly began to lower her hands, raising an eyebrow.

“Do you know Anakin?” The droid gave her a cheerful yes. “Wait, are you … Anakin's droid?” she asked cautiously hoping she didn’t insult the droid by naming the wrong owner.

The droid corrected her, but was friendlier in his response than last time.

“You’re his best friend, oh I’m sorry,” she apologized, to which the droid accepted, claiming that mix up happens all the time.

“Well then what's your name, best friend of Anakin's?” Omega asked curiously, walking right up next to the droid no longer afraid of the blue and white astromech.

The astromech beeped giddily.

“Well it’s a pleasure to meet you R2-D2, My name's Omega,” she extended her hand in a fist like Anakin showed her lightly nudging the top of R2 making a ‘boop’ sound on impact.

R2 processed the gesture as a greeting, so he leaned forward into her fist. Omega was surprised by his reaction, but opened up her fist allowing the droid to fully lean into the palm of her hand. Omega started to slowly rub circles on his dome, to which R2 cooed at the gesture.

Omega smiled at R2, she liked this droid. R2 had his own opinions, a vibrant personality, and managed to form an actual bond with his master instead of being mindlessly subservient. Omega couldn’t help but wonder if all droids acted like this, but she had a strong feeling R2 was different from other droids, unique like her.
