Medicine, a gift, a lifeline defines.

Amory was smiling while She walked into the halls of the hospital. Her work and learning space for the next 7 years. Her future is just within these walls. Her home.

The doctor who was giving her and the other interns the tour led them into the locker room. "This is where you'll keep most of your things. Only grab one locker each, since there are quite a lot of you."

The other interns rushed around wanting to look at everything in the room and already claiming a locker. Amory knew she was gonna spend a lot of time here, no need to rush to see it. The guy standing next to her had the same idea. They continued to inspect to room when she hear him speak up in a hushed tone "No need to rush, we have a whole year to see the rest of it, right?" Amort's eyes meet his as she smiles at him.

"Yes. I'm Amory Madden. You?" She says seeing his eyes light up for a while and trying to contain the smile that makes its way to his face.

"I'm George O'Malley. Nice to meet you."

Standing in the hall, at the door of the OR, alongside Doctor Webber Amory noticed a girl with dirty blond hair entering. Trying not to be noticed since she was late. Not a good way to start your internship, she thought to herself.

"No need to worry. We had only toured the cafeteria and the locker rooms before you came in. If you'd like for me to show it to you late I will." She whispers, trying to give the woman some comfort. The woman looked at her with a grateful smile, which made Amory think she gave her some comfort.

As we enter the OR Amory couldn't help but feel at home. A weird feeling for a place she'd never been before in my life. But it just made her realize more that this is where she belongs. The interns walk around the room, taking in what's right in front of them. Approaching the operating table Amory couldn't help but think that in little to no time she'll be saving someone's life here.

"Each of you comes here hopeful. Wanting in on the game." Amory heard the firm voice of the chief. "A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are the doctors." The blonde girl smiled to herself. She was a doctor, a surgical intern in one of the best programs there is. All the hard work she put in this was worth it. "The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition."

Amory looked at the faces around her: some scared, some excited, and some like her filled with determination. Recognizing some faces that didn't have names yet while other faces were the first time she ever saw them. Her eyes locked with George's for a second, before moving on to the woman she'd spoken to earlier.
