The Ger Is A Part Timer [BL]

The rules of the test were a bit similar to capture a flag, and if his assumptions about the limitations of the post were true, then they would at least need to search for other posts that provide water, medicine, utilities, or weaponry.

Yu Yan opened his terminal and discussed his ideas with the team. It was only almost half an hour later that he had closed it, his mind still in deep contemplation.

In the middle of his deliberation, a cup made out of carved bamboo blocked his view.

"Drink", Gazef offered, an expectant look on his face. "You might not have noticed but there's a light rain outside."

"...Ah", Yu Yan dumbly stared at the offered cup, his reaction slow. He was yet to fully separate himself from his train of thoughts. He stared at it for a while before accepting it and then expressing his gratitude.

"Your welcome", Gazef turned away to carve out a second spoon and a second cup. Apparently, he had been doing this for a while now, as the wood shavings were now piled between his feet from where he sat. A modest bowl and a modest spoon was beside him.

Now that Yu Yan was out of his stupor, he could see that Gazef had already prepared their meal and beddings for the night. A small fire was boiling the water in a make-shift cup, presumably from one of the canned rations.

He watched the latter take the boiled water and pour it into the ration pack. He closed the lid and put it aside to let the food cook, his movements fluid and familiar.

"Have you camped out a lot?"

This was the first time that Yu Yan reach out first. The crafts didn't look one bit crude. It made him curious of what Gazef had done to achieve such craftsmanship. After all, such skills weren't the type to be intentionally studied but rather a skill picked up along the way.

"I just learned it while traveling to different planets."

Intrigued, Yu Yan asked, "What planets have you been to?" So far, he had only been to two. He wanted to travel and explore the different planets and culture in the stars, but the opportunity had yet to present itself.

Gazef smiled, "There was a planet that had sandy dunes everywhere so the main city was below ground. Another planet was almost entirely made of water. Their cities were built upon floating islands and the sunrise and sunsets were very beautiful. There was also planet that was entirely covered by water but the water level on most areas were shallow. The trees there were a lot thicker than buildings and extremely tall, with a network of bridges built among the canopy of trees. There's a lot more, but it's too much to summarize. We had to move around quite often to avoid being found by my relatives."

"Oh. Then what's your favorite place instead out of all the planets you've been to?"

Gazef gazed at the young man's unperturbed countenance. "You've not going to ask about why I'm running away from my relatives? Isn't it strange?"

Yu Yan recalled his own body's background story in this world. To him, it seems that Heaven's management just tossed in a random common background story for different people so as to probably not make his own stand out. In short-

Yu Yan: Isn't being chased by relatives a common thing?

Thus, he answered with a small smile, "It's not weird at all. As someone who has also successfully ran away from villainous relatives, I can say that you're doing great. Don't they say that the best way to get revenge is to be happy and live your best life?"

"Mm."

"Ah, but you can beat them up and still live your best life la."

Gazef chuckled. Seeing his encouragement work, Yu Yan smiled sincerely, making Gazef's heart pound.

"I see", Gazef looked away as if uninterested but he couldn't hide the sight of his red ears. They were as red as plump ripe tomatoes.

The conversation came to a halt and a silent awkwardness engulfed the both of them, yet it was hard to open up a new topic.

Seeing the other embarrassed, Yu Yan felt a little embarrassed without really understanding why. Therefore, he tried to close the conversation as naturally as he could, "We should eat and then get some sleep. We need to head out later for reconnaissance."

Gazef handed him his ration and they both ate dinner using the utensils that the Gazef had carved out of bamboo and coconut.

"I'm...going to boil some more water for us before I sleep. You sleep first." Gazef stood up and busied himself.

"Mm." Yu Yan yawned, leaning back on a larger stalactite. As a man of routine, he couldn't resist the charms of sleep, not to mention that he subconsciously felt safe enough to sleep in the presence of his teammate even though they have not known each other that long. How strange.

Half an hour later, Yu Yan heard Gazef call out his name.

"...Are you asleep?" Gazef whispered, waiting but not seeing the other person react, nor stir.

There was stretch of silence before Yu Yan felt himself being lifted from the ground, waking him instantly and making him put his guard up back again. And yet, there was a part of him that wanted to see what the other person would do, so he continued to relax his muscles as if he was already in deep sleep.

A little while later, he was placed in soft make-shift bedding made out of a pile of grass. The warmth emanating from the fire pit made one drowsy.

Yu Yan didn't feel the other person leave immediately. He felt him sweeping his hair to his ear. His fingertips barely grazed the back of his ear but it almost made him tremble.

Odd. He never knew he was sensitive behind the ears before...

Gazef gazed at the other as he muttered, "The more I get to know you the more I fall in love with you all over again. Why is my wife so beautiful?" He then proceeded to get some sleep, laying down on the other side of the fire pit.

A little later, Yu Yan's wide eyes glowed in the dark, devoid of sleepiness. How was he supposed to sleep with a pounding heart?!

A/N: Hello, just to share good news-I have graduated from my second degree course~ Although I do plan to take a master's degree and a national examination for both courses, I'll have to see my schedule lol. It's already been planned til next next year. But hey, that's probably good news to you guys because the more I'm stressed, the more I procrastinate and end up writing chapters lol.
