A few hours later during the receding daylight, Yu Yan frowned at his terminal. It had vibrated to indicate a message sent in their team channel. Surprisingly, it was from Fernis.

Noticing the shift in his mood, Gazef asked, "What's wrong?"

"Seems like at least one team is spying on our second team. Fernis said that they will camp out separately for the night and try to sneak away at an optimal time. He sent coordinates of probable places that could hide a post. I think he wants to prioritize safekeeping the resources we found and investigate the places he pinned on the map."

On the map, Yu Yan saw the probability computations based on their found post location, direction, feasible distance between posts based on the ratio of posts to teams, and island geography. He clicked his tongue, and raised an eyebrow. He had to admit that Fernis' calculations looked sound. However, isn't he just asking them to run around all over the place because they currently couldn't? It was amusing how the person would use such calculations to justify bossing them around at the same time as shutting down arguments before they could even arise.

Lingering shortly at Yu Yan's expression, Gazef reassured, "They should be safe, assuming that they have not yet found any definite kits or posts yet."

"Or they could have found survival kits that only have consumables that aren't too much and would only last them for a day at most", Yu Yan thought aloud, hand pinching his chin. He looked pensive, as if contemplating something, then said, "Either way, I don't think that food is an issue because even if they didn't have any, Fernis will have found a way for the both of them to eat."

Gazef nodded. "If so, then it's better not to lead other teams to the post we found. Fernis' duo must be near the beach area if other teams have spotted them after landing. He probably wants us to act separately for now. But how will we own the posts? Don't we need all members to get points?"

Yu Yan updated the other teammates on the team channel of their plans while answering Gazef, "I saw a scanner sensor around the base of the post inside the cave. It should scan our terminals since that's the only machine we have to ascertain the individuality of each team member. Since communications are limited to team channels then I assume that a post will be considered 'conquered' when all members have tapped their terminals on the post..."

Wait. Wouldn't that mean that securing posts doesn't necessitate the presence of the actual person?

He sent a message to Fernis.

[Fernis: Do what you want.]

Oh. It was actually more than one word. He must've liked my proposal, that cold-faced Goldilocks, Yu Yan remarked as he closed his terminal.

"I just thought of something." Yu Yan went inside the cave to check the post. Gazef followed. He walked around the circumference of the post, even kicking to break a few stalactites in the process. Sure enough, there was a small compartment that was now open, with only food placed inside. He takes the food and the door of the compartment slides down to a close, with a holographic countdown appearing near the middle section of the post.

Recalling the instructor's words, survival posts would produce food, medicine, and other necessities every six hours. When all team members have occupied a post, a shield will activate to protect the team. From these couple of statements and his observations of the actual post, Yu Yan inferred that-one, posts should automatically produce one type of necessity every six hours, regardless of whether all members are present. However, it should not produce any resources as the long as it has not yet been taken from the compartment.

Yu Yan also assumed that each post should only produce one type of resource and the one they found must only provide food. However, this remains to be tested. Two-points could be earned by scanning each team member's terminal on the post to 'occupy' it and activate the shield function, though the pointing system remains to be explored. This means that the entry inside the protected area should be bound and controlled by the terminal of each person, should the field be activated.
